This book does an excellent job of destroying the myth of the "good" slave owner. It is a figment of southern imagination and should be treated as such.

Y'all. This is a lot of exposition. Like force fed kale exposition.

This narrative is amazing. It's about enslaved black women on "vacation" in the free state of Ohio with their owners, who are also their lovers and the fathers of their children. Sometimes people are in situations where there are no good choices to make, and you have to choose the least worst choice.

This is one of those books. I already love it.
