1) I am concerned that this narrator has only one girl voice. This lady sounds EXACTLY like Mary from the last book.

2) Sharpe is SURROUNDED by the East India Company. OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT YOU DODO.

3) I am still really, really disappointed that Hakeswell is alive.

This book should be required reading for ANYONE attempting to write historical fiction.

I am learning things about typhus disease vectors that I did NOT NEED TO KNOW.

I am enjoying this WAY more than I thought I would. Cornwell's bringing his A-game banter, and it is damn delightful.

Well. The description of this flogging makes Diana Gabaldon look like Louisa May Alcott. It was a very long drive to Anchorage.

This book is giving me some real ass single sex prep school flashbacks.

That was...a lot of exposition. But I'm still intrigued by the premise, so I'm hanging in here.

It always makes me nervous when native English speaking authors attempt to write dialog in pidgin English. But this is not bad! Certainly waaaay less offensive than when Gabaldon tried to do it. Gabaldon is the poisonous lead standard for pidgin English.

(Sorry, Gabaldon. ILU, but your talents lie elsewhere.)
