Adare is a stupid, stupid, irritating twit. It has been a very long time since I have come to pretty much hate a character. Kaden is extremely well-drawn, while not so exciting definitely interesting to read. I want more Valyn though, I hope he's reunited with his Wing-mates. really cannot stand the petty, petty, childish Adare who has ruined so much.

um...feel-good juvenile absolutely perfect (looks, money, skills, backstory, current story, women, cars, home, horses, liquor, you name it) protagonist effortlessly perfectly pulls off everything perfectly thus far. Storyline and packaging grabbed me, but I'm only giving this one a little bit longer before tossing it into the can't-postpone-suspending-disbelief-enough-to-enjoy pile.

Pretty much the only book one needs to read to understand crime in places and what the next wave in policing strategies will/should be.

rather darn good summation of PBP and why it truly matters. gathers together most all the current big names and all the up-to-date info in this society-based approach to decreasing crime victimization.

still plowing through these assassins. bound to be a mix of quality in a bowl this large, and there is. good thing thus far - all tales live up to the title and billing. many are fun adventures, very few are simple placeholders. I like the smorgasbord of authors I'd never or barely read, though; nothing better than a themed anthology to find more one enjoys. forward!

also wanted to read this one for quite the while, though admittedly based on the cover art, which I absolutely adore. the description caught me too, but it took a while to rise to the top levels of interest in my TBR stacks. I probably should have left it as a desire unmet - this is very soon going unfinished and on the done-and-gone shelf. a 'dream song' is right, though for me, so wrong.

I like it - it supports my pov - but it's the usual higher education paper: repetitive and self-congratulatory.

find this very interesting reading. older, yet quite informative and analytical and open-mindedly fair look at 8 countries gun laws and reciprocal violent crime rates based on their histories, cultures, and respective progress.

welp. WEB is doing a fine job of telling me all sorts of stuff. too bad it's mostly just short of boring. I'll see where this goes, but already decided there's no need for me to read any others.

and so my series of firsts continues: my first W. E. B. Griffin book. I have long looked at his titles, I believe I have a few others in my TBR stacks...let's see if he lives up to the hype.

and here's the cusp of it: "Actions ripple, in so many ways, and for so long." that is what this tale is about, that and how a series of deeds can fill the past and come full circle... or come not at all.

so at times very lyrical, clever, sorrowful. at others, trying way too hard to be meaningful and graceful and old. some great characters though.

well, there has been much to enjoy here...but...it's as if written in a fever dream like that of the Anglcyn king within its pages...at times confusing, at times delightful, at times simply mumbling.

lyrical, smooth, nice ebb & flow writing, interesting enough characters, but 2 lackings: non-delivery on an ever-lurking feeling of a shoe about to fall (that may be happening right now though because the next sentence says there's screaming), and other than the cleric, no depth yet to anyone. onward!

good introductions to Mark Smylie's & John Gwynne's writing. I enjoyed Gwynne's short story better, but I want to read Smylie's novel The Barrow more.

rather irregular storytelling. enjoying the main story though it is taking its sweet meandering time accomplishing much, but the interludes - after believing they contributed to the whole to ultimately determining they simply are (like the taltos horse) - seem only to derail as efforts of an author figuring his own things out.
