Ryan Harvey's tale is delightfully horrific with nary a sword raised. Ruthless demonic humanoids vie against the dredges of a woeful society.

Tom Doyle gives us a new Atlantean hero who is a bit more than another sword. I look forward to someday reading of what he does with his new slave.

James Stoddard writes a lovely though sad examination of Justice, featuring a character worth further stories.

Clint Werner's Oba tales are always fascinating and he delivers in spades with "The Witch's Hound." Oba is marvelous and his foe nasty and deadly yet also sad.

"Is Dumb" by M.D. Presley was fun!

"The Clatter of Dry Bones" was exciting and dangerous. Modern setting with a familiar ancient horror.

"Here be Dragon" is a great premise for a dragon story, begins well, features a promising character, then peters out to an ending.

DaVinci & Dupont make an interesting supernatural sleuths duo.

Harlan DaVinci and partner are interesting enough, but they're no Poet & partner. Well-written & plotted urban paranormal crime duo.

Fun series of tales thus far, chronicling the saga of Sirtago and Poet. Grand adventure, swashbuckling swords, and sexy sorcery fill each tale.

Nice introduction and stage setting followed by a great story of Poet's and Sirtago's blooming friendship - ha! Fun tale with dastardly sorcery and the foundations of this comradeship.

Another intriguing Enge tale delights! I am always fascinated by Enge's storytelling despite not being a particularly strong fan of his hero Morlock. There's puzzles and plots and playfulness alongside sorrow and blood and of course fantastical magicks.

Don't recall if I said this before, but the Samuel Dillon art that opens Hocking's tale is awesome, frame-worthy.

Adrian Cole delivers an action and horror packed tale of Elak on his way home to become king. Fun tale, dark enemies, great camaraderie, lots of fighting. Read it!

Hocking's Benhus is a dick, though his tales are well-written. This time Benhus was fun and his dickishness was absent. I thoroughly enjoyed this tale, though I thought it ended abruptly and the closing out of character for our protagonist.

I like this story and I like Billy Summers. There's been a great twist unexpected and a delightful addition to the plot...thus far. I also thoroughly enjoy the writing of his past Billy does. This is actually some impressive writing along with strong storytelling.

First person POV fluctuating between now/past and real character/multiple character personas. Nicely done thus far by Monsieur King. And I like Billy; hope he gets what he wants.

This is why:

I am a confessed non-Stephen King novel fan. Great storyteller, not a great writer. I haven't cared to read or about a King book in decades. Till now. I want to read this story. I even reserved it at my local library; patron reservation #6.

I must observe my admiration for the very neatly written and performed subterfuge and con just conducted. Praise should be given when it's due.

That said, my single remaining hope is so far-fetched, I'd be surprised if it were to occur. Delightedly surprised.

Still supremely despise our protagonist, but this last 20 pages or so have revealed a thing or two.

I'm going to be quite pissed if the big con of this novel is on me ... as I very seriously suspect.

Definitely don't like this protagonist. And I'm irritated at myself for succumbing to the rather well-written set-up that made me sympathetic toward him from the onset. Most of my favorite stories contain some morsel of loyalty; this asshole is the most disloyal, false friend I've read in ages if ever. This "story" also sucks, quite honestly. It's been almost 300 pages now of essentially reading a diary of survival.

Sorta boring thus far. Give me something soon or the awesome cover and great blurb won't keep me going.

First, I only continued reading from curiosity and boredom. I'm traveling 8 hours across barren but beautiful wastelands, and though I hold a Kindle filled with books I could easily switch to, I'm a sucker for learning why, learning what all the fuss was about. Second, I've skimmed chunks of blah-blah-blah and forced the bile back when the grotesqueries grew gratuitous. And finally, now, at 80%, proof it's real. Blah

Not sure I'll keep reading this, it begins quite heavily immersed in one of my most personally distasteful milieus - the fanatical religious power that slaughters indiscriminately. It's ugly and grotesque and brings me no reading enjoyment.

Intense bloody battles, great subterfuge and tactics, fierce foes, fun friendlies. Lots and lots of swords, slightest of hints of magic, great adventure and conflict. I enjoy the characters too. It is not addictive though, and despite lots of action it reads very info-y to me.

A tad melodramatic at moments, but still a nicely woven and growing story. We've drawn a team of players together who will play outside the rules to seek victory in the name of country, prince, and each other. We now embark upon our first tests of character, mettle, valor, and tactics.

Slower set up, some staging I ended skimming through, but now getting into the more meatier bit. Meeting some colorful characters I look forward to learning more about, and discovering who is the traitor-to-be.

It's been a grand mystery thus far, so plot and action and character motivations have all contributed and been well-woven. I'm quite curious about the ultimate magic threat. I enjoy the main character, though he's not addictive. Far more sorcery than swords, but it's not a S&S story.

Entertaining and decently written first person POV though I am weary of every first person protagonist these days thinking they're something or one too cool and carrying flippancy beyond the cray cray. I like the magic system and use, the gods, the players and politics, and the hero, though I'm especially entranced with the 11-year old knife aficionado.

GWT's Aberdin Vol is a jolly fun fellow and GWT pens some terrific scene-transition ending sentences, but his plot is quite convoluted.

I've always enjoyed Michael Ehart's Ninshi stories; heck, I've published them! While she is a formidable warrior, unfortunately, this particular tale is not among her or his better. We do learn though that Ninshi can still grow as a person.

"Through Dungeons Deep" by Jack Mac is great fun! I really like Poet and his once-prince companion is pretty interesting and fun too. Clever plot with grand adventures and dangers and sharp things. Now, point me in the direction of more of this duo's tales!
