Bonadonna gifts us a fun adventure with three memorable characters (and another mention of the Rogue Blades!). Vorengi Deega is actually my favorite, though both sword-slinging protagonists add depth, skill, heroics, and mysteries to learn.

Steve Dilks' Bohun is a fun & fierce character. An exciting story that began a tad confusing and brings strong reminisces of REH tales but is bloody and dangerous and thrilling all in its own right.

Well I sorta groaned when I started this. I'm not the biggest fan of 1st person storytelling with an overly emphasized/exaggerated accent. I'd forgotten it mostly be page 3, as the writing was exciting and plain ol' fun. First chapter delivers outstanding protagonist, adventure, action, and hook to pursue the next.

Enough of the melodramatic feet-dragging, geesh! A clever plot and decent foes are vastly undermined by the boring faux tenseness and anxiety suffered by the two protagonists. Thankfully only 96 more pages to get to the payoff.

"Beneath a Persian Sun" is another story I have always enjoyed, in fact one of my favorites with John Dee by Ty.

I've always enjoyed this story "Walking Between the Rain" - clever physical and action descriptions, loads of mystery, a cliffhanger of an ending. Can only ask for the story to continue.

"Born to Bring Trouble" is dark n bloody n violent n cool n ends without a whimper from the demons who had Dee captured. Exciting story marred by the sudden absolute absence of the Big Bad.

A fascinating bit with Aaron and what is transpiring within him. A conflux of Virtues congregate about him as well, so battle fast and furious must be rising. Perhaps this is like the Highlander, where there can be only one.

A very ponderous tale told ponderously. Have lost all interest in the lad, most of my interest in the elder. Reading toward a resolution and interest in our bad gal's fortune.

Woke up thinking about a particular scene read last night. It could not possibly have transpired exactly as written...the sheer volume of noise followed by the length of time...sorta skipped the incongruities whilst reading, but the mind worked at it while I slept.

I am enjoying returning to the story of Aaron and Co and company. Challenges and dangers abound, the mysteriousness persists, folks are secrets, and our hero is an ever-evolving wonder.

Still don't like the kid much. Lots of this tale is lived replaying/regretting/reliving decisions taken, and that's getting old. The plot is decent, the players clever.

Can't stand Gardiner, grrr. Often skimming most of his parts even though it's implied he's important. The bad guy, er, gal, is actually the most interesting character thus far, though the story is cool.

Read a Craig Thomas long ago. Held its own against Ludlum, MacClain, and Forsythe. Looking for the same from this thriller. Looks like we'll have a legit foe here.

And now - after we've made every momentous discovery to be heard of and also had absolutely everything we could need including hundreds of feet of multiple spools of line - we've arrived in the bad guy's lair. The author is quite familiar with Sax Rohmer and every Bond villain.

Things have escalated a bit, thankfully. Also had some sudden character traits/issues revealed that seem ill-timed. I'm also rather certain of the enemy and even the intentions. So - halfway through and better than it was, but not a three star yet, nor would I recommend reading this.

Don't truly know why I'm still reading this beyond frustrated boredom. Likeable character does and thinks lots of dumb stuff and we get told about all of it. Halfway to go, with so far no intention of following this series.

Correction: last page count was 158 (not 185). Conan, Howard, and Druss all just made appearances. Cleverness abounds in this Gemmell tale.

And suddenly we have a twist I did not see. And then another.
I love Gemmell's heroic fantasy, but his two London crime thrillers are Da Bomb!

The nuances of this story are many and surprising. Populated by intriguing and dimensional characters I grow an understanding of yet want to know more about. Fascinating growth/maturation within the protagonist.

"Interred with the Worm" was a bit of fun that raises numerous questions and leaves things unsatisfied if thought about at all.

Always a fan of Nathan Meyer's very violently bloody fun, I was excited to see his appearance here. "Beneath a Scarlet Moon" definitely lives up to the violence and delivers a spectacular S&S character and remnant of an Elder Race. Its manner of storytelling was a bit staccato and brusk.

"Death Stalks the Night" - cool monster, okay story.

Mark Rigney's "Dara's Tale" was enthralling and entertaining, though surprising in its inclusion.

Benhaus is a character I'd be glad to kneecap, castrate, and slit the throat of. Hocking delivers again, but I'd rather read more of his other characters.

Clint & Oba strike again, only this time after a bit of a scare. Oba is a fine hero, his quest long and arduous, and though it will bring his tales to an end, I wish him justice and peace sooner than later in his pursuit.
