Woof, this book is making me a bit nauseated. I'm not sure where it's going -- there have already been two distinct, mutilated bodies described in detail plus a few she sums up (the trunk full of skulls, for instance) and one from the past she wants to connect to the present -- but I'm hanging on through all the gory bits!

I'm so glad I caught that I was listening to the abridged version and got a full audiobook. I started at the beginning again and was amazing by how many details and how much setting/background were chopped.

"Hello!" a perky broomstick with a bouncy bob and sun-leathered skin greeted me from behind a reception desk. The patchouli tsunamied strong as I crossed to her. "Welcome to Inner Peaks Climbing Center!"

I'm not sure how I feel about this one so far. The writing is fine and the narrator is great, but this also seems like a story I've heard 100 times, like a cross between Gone in 60 Seconds and The Fast & The Furious. We shall see....

I stayed up too late finishing this!

If I have to read the simile like a cat with cream one more freaking time....
