- so far it's nice but I have the feeling "science" is the dakimakura of the protagonist
- He has the strangest reaction to seeing two familiar dead people
- Amnesia doesn't work that way? Is this an otome, had the same stuff with "9RIP" right now
- Book doesn't have a sense of urgency which I didn't expect
- did not expect that many flashbacks either
- characters have a "muddy" feel. Does he care about anyone?

- unlike the other book I'm reading at the same time (broken skies) lots of stuff happens here
- Both characters lost their spouses in an accident a year ago
- Protagonist calls her mother a whore for dating many men "I just have to say it like it is" - no you don't!) and then later calls her bestie a whore as well
- Protag doesn't much care for dogs or women

- man threw her off a hill

- I'm almost at the half point and so far we have reached the end of the description. So hopefully something we don't already know happens soon!
- apparently it's ok for her grandpa that she doesn't become ceo because uh... she isn't "made for it" but the dude who didn't even think of becoming ceo months ago and doesn't care much for it is "made for it"
- I'll be honest, it's boring rn and I'm disappoint (rn)

- Well him being a cop and her being part of the mafia is something new? Usually it's the reverse
- ok he's a corrupt bad cop but still
- the missing junkie baby brother is already my least fav because he hired a 16year old prostitute AND her John. Good job.

- I do not like FMC though:
- She doesn't even pay utilities??
- Shows up dirty to a 1. meet-up
- Immediately forgets one of his two requests, silence during the day (tries to hang up pictures and wakes him up)
- because she doesn't pay utilities, she spends extra long time under the shower (enough for him to wonder if she forgot to turn the shower off)
- She's really nosy

- I really like the vampire MMC Frederick (reading the German version) and it's possibly better in German than in English because it's using the formal "Sie" instead of "Du" (if I'm correct and it's just "you" in English which can be translated as both depending on context)
- this fits Freddy's antiquated way of speaking much better

- you will not believe this but... I've since learned that this isn't just a medicine thriller (❤️) but *boss music starts playing* it's dark academia (😭☠️)
Let's cross our fingers that THIS ONE is the first DA book I like and gets much better!!

- only things I would have liked to change:
- what's the difference between the "treehouse brothers" fashion label and others?
- what happened to Tiffie Echo/her reaction?
- more sex scenes actually, can't believe I'm writing this

- this book is like crack

- Joscha giving her small presents is so cuuute!

- it's difficult to like the main character because despite her bad situation (heart failure imminent, grandmother has dementia) she's hellbent on being cold and awful to everyone
- she has depression but she doesn't want to change, just await her death and is annoyed that people still care about her
- she hears a murder happen, is the first one to see the body and doesn't contact medics or the police, just watches

- so far it's not my fav of the trilogy (at this point I already loved the second book) mainly because of the fashion label subplot (thought I escaped that with this series) and because the main conflict is that she doesn't won't to "burden" him with her private life while both are head over heels for each other
- I like the Joscha Jar, Zach and the Lola stuff

- Franka sometimes sounds like she just learnt what feminism is on tiktok and has to tell everyone about it
- the attraction is very physical, like Noel is interested in her body and Clara is interested in his voice, would be nice if there was more
- did not need the creepy guy subplot but ok
- Noels family situation is the most interesting part
- like the setting

- "er will meine pseudo-leidenschaftlichen Ergüsse doch nicht etwa vorlesen? Mein Schokoladen-Dirtytalk, aus dem Mund meines Vorgesetzten?" loving it so far
- I'm listenting to the audiobook version and both voice actors are a good choice for the book

- This is purely fantasy at this point (which I like so no problem)
- I have NO idea how this is going to turn into a romance
- it's definitely an ENEMIES-to-lovers in the sense that he's an enemy and there is no way to turn him into a lover unless Tessa gets the dumbo potion, like he's a murderer and his motivation is that he's bad at politics
- I like consul Kirsch, she's smart and I respect her
- Wes is cute

- could this finally be the one dark academia book that I like? So far it's not looking great after a giant info dumb in the intro that doesn't tell me much besides "tides", "houses" and Emory being an emogirl who can heal herself
- I'm guessing Basil is the actual love interest?
- Kieran Thornberry is the red herring love interest or villain?
- feels a little overwrought, not every page needs a marine metaphor

- a very nice start
- great illustrations, book looks really cool
- I like Scarlett (Red) the most and that it's two siblings, but that they have a nice butler as well
- the book is well written and I love the word choices

- part of my read-30-pages-and-then-decide-what-to-read-next series.
- So far it's been very good! I like the "healing descriptions", I like the three characters that have been introduced thus far (Protagonist Kiva, Naari, Tipp)
- prison seems like one of those draconic prisons you see in dictatorships, Kiva was sent to prison at 7 (a child)

So after Onyx Storm I'm a little exhausted honestly, I read this book in what 3 days?? I have some others lined up but I'll probably do the read-30-pages-and-then-decide thing again to decimate my TBR a little more.

+ Finale was great
- one twist was just really random, don't know how you could have seen that coming
- don't know what to make of the ending? She's really going to leave us hanging with this? I'm guessing the actual epilogue to this will be the intro chapter of the next book again... and who knows when that'll come

- some twists I didn't see coming & liked
- looks like we are on our way to the grand finale, right now I would rate this higher than IF. I do miss the "heists" of the last two books though
- Every time she puts Rhi and Imogen on the bench the book suffers for it. Vi needs her female friends, this is FW not dragons & dudes.
