Why doesn't every book have a companion animal like Shadow? Instead of the Romantasy award, Goodreads should have a Good Boy award this year.

I like the little fairy tales (literally in this book) but not as much as the main story.

If you ignore the fantasy setting, this is an extrovert social butterfly x the worlds worst introvert story, which I love!

Jetzt sind wir mitten in Afrika und es geht gleich wieder los mit Rassismus, aber ich find gut das klar gemacht wird dass Ivy davon eher ausgenommen ist.

Mir gefallen die Beschreibungen und die kleinen historischen Fakten auch gut

Ivy ist auf der Fahrt nach Kenia zur Löwenjagd und... ein bissel ein Prick?
Ich finde es gut dass sie nicht auf die Tiere schießen möchte, aber gefühlt redet sie einfach alles und jeden schlecht, da fragt man sich schon warum sie überhaupt mit wollte. Natürlich ist sie auch perfekt im Schießen obwohl sie es gar nicht tun möchte. Diane kommt dadurch sympathischer rüber als gewollt.

ich finds gut dass man etwas über englische Adelskreise zu der Zeit erfährt und dass Ivy gegen die Jagd ist, auch wenn sie mitkommt.

Ok also Ivy ist auch das Golden Child des Vaters obwohl sie es gar nicht möchte (vermutlich auch wegen des Aussehens)
Mir gefallen die Passagen zu den Pferden

Nachdem's mit Rassismus losgeht, ist es nach einem Zeitsprung zum Zeitpunkt von Ivys und Rosamunds Debüt in der Gesellschaft besser geworden.
Persönlich hätte ich aber die "blasse Rosamund" interessanter gefunden als die "perfekte süße kleine" Ivy die "so weiß ist wie Elfenbein" charakterlich ist Ivy natürlich auch besser, sie ist jetzt schon ein großer Tierfreund.

Fav character so far is Montgomery (just like in the original one I believe) and the catgirl. Yes there's a catgirl in this - and a catboy as well.
Interested to see where this goes, something is def up with Lotta's "medicine". I'm a little baffled that it looks like there's an age gap romance in this as well with a character that knew her when he was in his twenties and she was 10.

So far I like it BUT - it has almost nothing to do with the original classic which I explicitly read before, so I would have some background.
I'd say it's a cozy historical romancy-type book, it tackles many difficult themes (colonialization, race, feminism, class, religion, etc.) and none of them stand out (simply stating that women weren't allowed to do stuff in the past does not a feminist tale make).

I have a luxury problem, in that most of my recent reads have been great but I often wonder if I should read books that actually try to change me as a person instead. Broaden my horizon and such.
Some of them do, like the historical fiction ones, but it's still entertainment and I'm steering clear of non-fiction when I wanted to try that.

Been listenting to lots of historical mystery audiobooks lately and it's so wickedly fun I feel like it should be a crime lmao.
Some sleuth investigating a murder in 1426 Joseon (Korea) and the local people think there has to be an evil spirit behind it?

Showbiz Szenen sind eigentlich immer schlecht und das hier ist leider keine Ausnahme, ich sag nur "Dein letzter Hit war echt ganz heißes Shampoo!"
Mir gefallen ein paar Aspekte an der Täterperson nicht besonders, aber es ist trotzdem ein sehr runder Fall!
