i loved yoshimoto's kitchen because she made the ordinary feel so magnificent. but i'm realising now that the flipside of her sentimentalism is that she romanticises gross men. the first story was a massive let-down... the male love interest is a misogynist! anyway, let's hope the rest is better because i BOUGHT this, instead of borrowing from the library :(

always hard to write a compelling sequel but he’s doing alright so far

huge haunting hill vibes! a thriller that is actually scary

all the reveals r pretty understandable so far. waiting for huge twists

i was meant to read this at the same time as my sister but she reads too slow

there was a rly random part where a guy asked his muslim friend - who had supposedly been his friend for years - why she doesn’t eat pork but drinks alcohol. as if they hadn’t had this conversation before? then she just answered that it’s bc she’s a bad Muslim,, bc she’s also gay?

non-Muslim authors can be SO weird when writing Muslim characters 😭

(I don’t normally read romance so maybe this doesn’t count for much but) this book is so good it’s made me realise i’ve never read good romance fiction in my life

this is like if Richard Curtis wrote a gay romcom & i mean that in the best possible way

fun AND scary!

liking it so far, despite some mild reservations. but i thought i was halfway when i'm only 1/5th?? don't really see how the story can sustain interest over 400 more pages
