I love L.E. Modesitt's stories, but... wow... this one has not gotten off to a great start, 28 pages in and we've already sat in on two bureaucratic meetings... Hopefully things will start spinning out of control, but I feel like I've spent as much time yawning and rereading sentences as making progress so far... hopefully things will start spinning out of control soon

Even with just 20-30 pages left in this book, I'm still not sure how I feel about it or where the story's going...

I was off by 5, I didn't actually go backwards in the book
