In my defense, I started reading this because I had a yearning to reread some Verne, and this was one I remembered liking some time ago (like mid-1990's), that said, I picked a lousy time to read a book glorifying Russian Imperialism; awkward...

I kinda picked this up on a whim, but I've been absolutely loving it; this is old school science fiction full of advanced technology, future history, action, political intrigue, and dry wit

an intriguing beginning, the universe kinda reminds me of a serious version of "The View from the Imperium"

Yup, I've actually begun reading it, and I accidentally almost started reading at the end (oops, stupid ebook).
