Hopscotch
Hopscotching is fun! And for whatever reason, I find this sentence perfect : "Maybe one had to fall into the depths of stupidity in order to make the key fit the lock to the latrine or to the Garden of Olives." That should be a saying!

The Fan-Maker's Inquisition: A Novel of the Marquis de Sade
"How lightly you carry the years, mon amie, yes, how very lightly. I think it is because no one has ruled you, not man or god. If only you were a libertine, what a perfect specimen of a woman you would be!"

The Fan-Maker's Inquisition: A Novel of the Marquis de Sade
"The Bible is a pile of dung... The one thoughtful moment is Eve's. Eve, the mother of Juliette. Eve, who never asks 'Why have you forsaken me?' but who walks out of Eden and climbs into bed. Eve, who in full knowledge, fucks and engenders a world."

The Fan-Maker's Inquisition: A Novel of the Marquis de Sade
"'When my pen starts thrashing, it's like fucking a whore in the den of a famished lion. The world is brimming with plaster replicas, and the point is to smash them to bits, to create an upheaval so acute it cannot be anticipated or resisted. I am after Vertigo,' Sade said. 'I am wanting a world in which the Forbidden Fruit is ascendant and rises just as the Old Laws fall-yes!'"

Apparently it's National Twilight Zone Day. Be careful if you take a nap, you might wake up and find that you are the same but everything else is suddenly different. Or vice versa. I would just avoid naps altogether today.

The Jade Cabinet
This Tubbs fellow is a bit Dickensian. And these two ethereal nymphets are a bit Nabokovian. But the overall effect is probably 100% Ducornetian. Meaning, splendid.

The sentence "Donald Trump receiving classified security briefings" makes me simultaneously lol and shit my pants in terror. Any Goodreaders in like Switzerland or Scandinavia have an extra room to rent? I cook pretty well and can talk books and music...

"To long to read." - Geoff Wilt [..seriously, I'm essentially no longer a reader these days - by force of circumstance etc. - it sucks for real - keep up the good reading folks - do it for those of us staring down the wordless Void, uncomprehending]

My goodreads database search for "Neuro-totalitarianism in Technomaya Goog-colonization of the Experience and Neuro-plastic Alternative" suprisingly came up with zero results.

Dear Gaia Yahweh Earth Mother, I pray to you from the center of universal Ch'i, in full Ardha Padmasana Vrksasana aligned with my twinned birth constellations and parallel with the true ancient magnetic poles - please allow me time to read Thomas Mann this weekend. Also, give me a million dollars tax-free. Amen.

Also, if you don't like a work of art, but there are these other people who do like it, those other people are in a "cult". There's really no other explanation! #goodreadsopinions

An aging noise punk's sad admission of inexcusable naïveté, in the form of an inquiry - Where do I start with Bach - Where do I start with Beethoven - Where do I go from there? Merci.

I think I still like Goodreads. But sometimes I log on in the morning and think to myself : "I don't really like this. All these opinions." To remedy this, I'm going to take the lead, and from here on out my reviews will be 100% opinion-free.

Haven't had much time to read lately. (See, 100 pages of this book in a week. Pretty shoddy.) Any case, thankful to have the time I do have to read. Thankful for books which help us make sense of things in beautiful ways. Thankful for music which is the soul of existence. Thankful for these things which are the sunlight of days. (It's always night, or we wouldn't need light.)

You know what the problem with this book is? Not enough about Bavarian Educational Reform. I mean, there's some, but not nearly enough.
