Happy 2017 everyone. Stay strong, reading, attentive, creative, empathetic, weird, radical, aiming toward fulfillment. Reality will be against you - but since when has that been a problem?

Hi. I make music. I have three new long form compositions/improvisations for you to listen to. Aleatory music. Throw-of-the-dice music. Bernoulli logic music. For you. We make art against the rising tide, to make and hope for something beyond the hopelessness & dread that is our every day these days. Listen and enjoy! Thanks.

'He listens to a wild amount of aleatory music and reads even more, he's always involved with women, and he's probably waiting for the moment."

"No sunrise, even in mountains, is pompous, triumphal, imperial; each one is faint and timorous, like a hope that all may yet be well, and it is this very unobtrusiveness of the mightiest light that is moving and overpowering."

"The existence of bread factories, turning the prayer that we be given our daily bread into a mere metaphor and an avowal of desperation, argues more strongly against the possibility of Christianity than all the enlightened critiques of the life of Jesus."

Is it too early to talk Album Of The Year? Below is a rough list of stuff I listened to a hell of a lot - kinda in some kind of order. You?

"Love of stone walls and barred windows is the last resort of someone who sees and has nothing else to love. Both are cases of the same ignominious adaptation which, in order to endure the world's horror, attributes reality to wishes and meaning to senseless compulsion."

Folks in the DC/MD/VA area ya got until January 8 to see the Ragnar Kjartansson exhibit at the Hirshhorn. If nothing else, just plan an hour in the room with The Visitors. I've been probably 8 times and it still gives up secrets and gets richer with each viewing (and a full viewing takes an hour... But I do work across the street.) Best installation in years!

"Weakness posing as strength betrayed the thought of the allegedly rising bourgeoisie to ideology, even when the class was thundering against tyranny. In the innermost recesses of humanism, as its very soul, there rages a frantic prisoner who, as a Fascist, turns the world into a prison."

Hey friends, December's synth mix is up! These pieces are all post-election, so consider them blues for a decaying age. If you haven't heard my music, give it a listen; if you know my stuff, I think the new material will please you - I put work and heart into this, trying to make beautiful things in dark times - enjoy!

"...the dialectic advances by way of extremes, driving thoughts with the utmost consequentiality to the point where they turn back on themselves, instead of qualifying them. The prudence that restrains us from venturing too far ahead in a sentence, is usually only an agent of social control, and so of stupefaction."

"Nothing less is asked of the thinker today than that he should be at every moment both within things and outside them - Munchhausen pulling himself out of the bog by his pig-tail becomes the pattern of knowledge which wishes to be more than either verification or speculation."

One of those books that formulates clearly so many things I wish to be able to express but am not well-read or intelligent enough to express by myself - almost every section is followed by an emphatic "Yes!"

Geoff is starting Bottom's Dream
Honest? I'm finding the Dream pretty impossible to read for more than a few pages at a time. My head might not be in the place it needs to be for it. Still, I'll vote for it for book-of-the-year or whatever, cuz when confronted with something like this my subjective experience hardly matters. I'm humble enough to know that.

"The admonitions to be happy, voiced in concert by the scientifically epicurean sanatorium-director and the highly-strung propaganda chiefs of the entertainment-industry, have about them the fury of the father berating his children for not rushing joyously downstairs when he comes home irritable from his office. It is part of the mechanism of domination to forbid recognition of the suffering it produces..."
