🤢 Author is pretty heavy handed with making Ophelia ‘win over subjects so easily.’ A gruff chef who laughs at her one attempt of a joke. And everybody hated/was terrified of her but now her looking people in the eye and smiling back is her ‘winning over’ the people? Wha?

This is kinda slow to get through, I’m waiting for the big mystery and for our characters to interact more. So far he ‘likes’ her and lists some reasons but it rings false since that wasn’t the impression I got from their interactions. Ugh I was hoping I’d like this series.

It’s weird reading Kate Pearce in a western contemporary voice. Trying to get used to this new voice.

I’m just not jiving with the writing even though this was recommended by the great Amanda Milo. 😭 Royce hasn’t done anything really worthy of awe and Leah can’t speak and spends most of her time trying to get to the ocean. This plot is not very riveting. 😫
