this whole time, i thought she had a boyfriend or a guy best friend of some sort called Benoit whose grandma went missing...

ghsidzisf– this has nothing to do with this novel (which is amazing, btw <33 – it is taking me some time because i'm annotating it quite heavily), but i think one of my reviews got blocked (???)... ummm i didn't know anyone could do that...
it was a one-star rating, and although i did rant a little and touched on major issues, i was never disrespectful to the author nor the book in any sort of way...

there's a character whose name is jolo and i can't help screaming "YOLOOOOOOOOO—" in my mind every time i read his name... help.

p.s.: not really enjoying this so far. it's really slow paced and the writing is too simple and colloquial for me, i guess. (this is becoming a theme with french books lmao ;-;)
but i DO love that this is a french non-translated fantasy novel. those are rare and i always love to discover them.

currently regretting reading this book in the wintertime because i feel like i'm missing out on the fun summery atmosphere and it makes me sad. :'(

this book holds really nice [adventure/jules verne] vibes, and i'm here for it.

i've always been a pretty slow reader with émile zola...
and that's because my mind and my body cannot physically handle too many horrible details ;-;
sooo reading about a woman slowly drowning in alcoholism is already... fun...

oh noooo i'm dead, i literally dnf'ed this book *YEARS AGO* and just found a plane ticket in it — which i assume i used as a bookmark —... and it's from october 2017. i— wow.
i don't even know why i dnf'ed it in the first place; i don't remember disliking it... ;-;

3- the amount of disgust i feel due to *GROSS* details is immesurable rn
