This book is tough sledding. I mean, I can see how he influenced P.G. Wodehouse, but in my opinion Wodehouse is funnier. Sake's world of Edwardian life is rather vapid, though there are clever turns to some of his tales. Still, 900 pages of this may be too much for me to tolerate.

This is a bloody big book, 944 pages. So far, for the most part, I am not enamored of Saki's prose. But I shall soldier on.

What I want to know is, why is there a drawing of a fly on page 69?
