I'm enjoying this, but after about the middle it gets a little out-of-control. The Heaven sequence doesn't do much for me. I hope the book improves. Heinlein was out of his depth with religion, in my opinion.

There is power here, and sorrow, and rage. We begin to see how Macbeth is galvanized by what has happened to him in his youth, and the growing fire in his soul.

Gruach and her brother are sent from a potentially dangerous situation to a safer one with foster parents.

Shimmering language, earth-bound descriptions and hard-living characters, with a touch of the supernatural. Densely and beautifully written, this is not an easy book, but it contains much wealth for the reader.
