I have finished the first volume and am plowing through the second. Great fun!

A long and very entertaining novel. I don't know how long it'll take to finish it, because I don't often read on the iPad (Kindle app).

I started this book last evening and was instantly engaged. Looking forward to reading more!

Currently reading "Brain Wave" by Poul Anderson. I am very fond of Anderson's writing, and this story -- about a sudden rise in mammalian intelligence -- is great fun to read.

Currently reading RE-BIRTH by John Wyndham, a short novel and the first offering in this anthology. I may have read RE-BIRTH before, because I am very fond of Wyndham's writing, but it would have been many years ago and I don't recall it.

I love Jack Vance, and his "Dying Earth" stories in particular; although, as presented in this omnibus volume, one notices a sameness about the plots involving Cugel the Clever, who isn't as clever as he would like people to believe. He's fleeced or cheated time after time -- although he usually manages to win free of his victimizers and turn the tables on them. Still loads of fun.

I love Leiber's "Fafhrd and Grey Mouser" characters. This is the 4th collection of their adventures, which, thanks to eBay, I am reading in order. This one is most enjoyable. I'm on the last story, "The Lords of Quarmall," and I think it's one of Leiber's best tales.

I like Doyles's work. I've previously read THE SNAPPER, and I've seen the three movies based on that one, THE COMMITMENTS, and THE VAN. THE GUTS doesn't disappoint; it picks up Jimmy Rabbite's story some twenty years on.
