The writing is sooooo beautiful, delightful to read!

I forgot how much I love Leigh Bardugo’s writing. Every new release is more mature and pure magic. She really outperforms herself every single time.

Why am I DNFing every single one short story 😭This is definitely not the type of writing I expected from this author, she’s sooooo praised on Booksta 😕

The writing was a bit childish to me and the dialogues not well written. But I liked the plot and the romance unexpectedly.

I don’t like the writing style at all. The prose is bizarre and the character so apathetic.

"I can’t believe you even remember that, after what happened to you right after."
I’m so sorry but this book isn’t written well. Does anyone reread and edited it at some point?

She keeps dragging it. But girl just ends the book now. It’s physically painful at this point.

What the hell? Her "fabulous" mentor drugged her and then she had sex with an imaginary demon?

This author has to stop trying to make historical references.

Now I’m mad. "Odessa" No it’s Odesa. "in the Ukraine" No in Ukraine it’s a country of its one!!!

Now the typical trope "He was a Nazi officer but did everything to protect his Jewish lover". And "My mother survived because she was beautiful and very lucky." All of this to say karma will get you one day. Girl don’t write about the Holocaust if you can’t do it seriously. Especially to compare it then to a fight between two girls who didn’t speak to each other for a year

Hmmm I need more information on the date of the story. Because the authors wrote "Most of the family died in camps. But my grandparents snuck out over the border. My mom was two." and I’m bad at maths but that means the MC’s mother is now 80 years-old? And got her at 50 years-old if we consider the MC is 30? Then "They spent a couple of year in Paris. They came to the US when my mom was four." That only makes 2..

This doesn’t look like a very polished book to me. There are many repetitions, sentences starting the same way ("She’s… I don’t know how to describe her." then four lines later "She’s… I don’t know."). The style isn’t very researched and the character’s voice so annoying.

I honestly don’t know what to think about this book. I like the plot/setting/thriller aspect, but not the characters and the writing style.
