sometimes this reads like fanfic bc i have no idea where anyone is or what they're doing in a scene.

right now i'm convinced the movie really amplified the content of this book and made it better ...

i must've been really tired when i started this book bc i don't remember simon ever having glasses? i actually don't remember if we've even established what he looks like?

this book falls prey to needing to establish who the black characters are but not giving the white characters the same treatment; it's just assumed.

almost everything according to simon is ridiculous

simon's voice is great throughout this but he never establishes and scenes or has much introspection on things. it reads like fanfic at times — i'm meant to already know these people.

reading this for the first time after watching the netflix series ... kind of wish the vfd members were more active and prominent in the books as they are in the show. would break up the repetitiveness.
