I am completely fascinated by this novel. I don’t have a clue what I’m going to rate it, or what my review would be - I’m just hypnotized by whatever this thing is. Okay - if he hasn’t been bitten already, we need some vampire to visit with Ramsey Campbell, make him immortal as gently and politely as possible, so I get my new Campbell book always. We’ll worry about me living forever to read them, later on.

Right, so I will tackle this just ahead of Panic Party. Might go dark on Horror novels after this, until Sept.-Oct., because I will be all over Horror for those two months. Still planning only novels by women for Sept. - should have enough Crime & Horror, plus a few detours - to keep me busy for the 30 days.

Things getting a little bit Harlan Ellison…and, for me, that is definitely NOT where I wanna be. A little Lovecraft-y too, though, and I don’t mind that so much. Different sort of stories, in the late-going - two left, and we’ll see what kind of mood I’m put into as things wind up.

Maybe this one ahead of the Ramsey Campbell novel - not sure. Both very tempting...but I spent years wanting a copy of this particular Sheringham entry, and now I have it, and it's irresistible!

It has turned into a terrific Thriller. Was great at the start, now it’s top tier.

Things moving at a rapid clip, with lots of action. Great summer read. Mystery is partly revealed - not everything.

I just think this one is so much better than the series opener; the heroes are not having everything go their way, and there’s an actual mystery of sorts. I’m trying to think of other serial bomber novels I have read - uh, there was Gelignite by William Marshalll, part of the Yellowthread Street series which in a proper world would be your next favourite series - which was good, but not Marshall’s best, IMO.

The first book in this series was entertaining, but my favourite Dana Haynes novels actually go back a while, so I'm looking for him to wow me again the way he used to. The start to this one is promising; I have indeed missed Fiero, but she wouldn't have time for me.

I would say, after sampling two Richard Corben graphic novels, that he is a terrific artist, but an average writer. The Poe effect is helping things here, but it's the art that is really worth checking out.

The stories are very short, and so mostly end up being mildly amusing. Quick little twists, sudden endings. This is all okay, but these are not my favourite types of short stories.

Enjoying this. There's a little of an E. C. R. Lorac feel to it, but it's not quite the same vibe - Lorac, woven through with Farjeon? Anyway, this is another book I committed to when a local Mystery bookstore let me search through their basement and the 40 years' worth of books stashed down there. I did a bulk purchase without haggling, but I think this was one of the pricier books - but, I wanted it.

I've opened up the "It just sort of worked out that way - but I better do something about it" File pertaining to my reading habits, and realized that September should probably be all women writers. Not sure how I've mainly been reading male authors, but it's gotten a bit excessive. So, okay. Meanwhile, this is quite good, so far. I like the little river environment (with map), and the characters, especially Anstice.

This book is not living its best life at the website. Low mean rating. Well…I liked the first chapter.

Passed on the first volume, Voices from the Radium Age, because there was just too much in that book that I had already read. But I have picked up and devoured several of the MIT Press editions of the Radium Age novels that have come out (even there, I could skip some I had pursued earlier). I hope the publisher has a lot more stuff to provide! The covers by Seth are very eye-catching - love the look.
