Hmm. Not so good - not that bad. Odd, mostly.

Not a highly regarded Campion book from what I can tell - but a good one for the season. Kind of creepy.

Gripping story.

Looking forward to this - The Long Shadow was wonderful.

My first encounter with Oliver Goldsmith, ‘The Disabled Soldier’. I liked it, and also found the quick Goldsmith bio before the story to be quite intriguing.

A detour to nonfiction. Hotel settings in fiction - especially Mysteries, hold a special attraction for me. I extended this preoccupation to a nonfiction book called Shanghai Grand, and things went well. Now, a different hotel, stuck in a great location during a horrible time.

It’s sooooo creepy, and that’s what I wanted! I mean, in my quest to read only novels by women this Sept. (except one), with a Horror or Crime focus, I didn’t realize I had so few Horror books by women, and so have picked the eeriest looking Crime novels I owned. The black cat on cover and title made this a must - but the cat is just the start of the creepiness; loving it!

I’ve read this before, and have no real memory of it. I think there’s an emphasis on action.

Hitchens has been a fairly recent discovery - many books back in print, all entertaining reads. Let the streak continue!

Gosh, some of the biggest, fanciest houses in Riyadh must be beautiful to behold.

I love it. I’m not sure how many book I’ve read that take place in Riyadh, and I’m enjoying the descriptions. The plot is getting more sinister by the chapter.

Will my favourite by Highsmith always be The Tremor of Forgery? I don’t know, but she’s got lots of chances to outdo that one!
