I still think The Redeemer is the best one, even above The Snowman. The series has had no actual disappointments for me…except that maybe The Bat was merely “pretty good”. Nesbo is expert at misdirection - hiding what seems obvious later on, by showing things that distract. I can’t seem to get better at picking killers.

Trying to get back into reading regularly after being sick. Yesterday was a mere 30 pages, or less. I should be back to normal soon. This one has a good start.

Committing to Radium Age Science Fiction (call it 1904 to 1933, give or take…) has been one of the great joys of the past few years.

Enjoying it. So far, it most resembles A Man Among the Microbes, by Maurice Renard (which pre-dates it!), when it comes to the "shrink-y" SF I have read before.

More Radium Age SF for me...

I continue with my plan to read books, for a month - hopefully each month for four years (yah, right!) - each of which takes place in a different country (on another planet, etc.). The exception will be things like the Mark Lawrence trilogy - where I may want to keep things moving within a month. This version of traveling will keep me out of the US a lot of the time, and I can relax with a good book.

Well, it could go off a cliff later on, I suppose - but so far, I’m not with the naysayers. I like it.

Reminded of Dorothy L. Sayers, and Gladys Mitchell. With modifications.

It took a few pages for me to get used to the style and the quirky humour, but I like it.

Some notes: (a) I know somewhere in my Goodreads history of comments and reviews, I said I felt 1971 was the best year for movies, long before this book came along. I’m just sayin’; I want my street cred, and I want it now; (b) I will be checking out the films I haven’t seen, in random order; (c) I have read and will read much of this book at Starbucks, founded in 1971; (d) sadly, not a great Spy Film year.
