I've been anxious to get to this 2nd book, the story's so good!

Spoiler rant:

<spoiler> OMG! Just WTF Ramahd! You made a fucking deal with Guhldrathen for Çeda's life?! WHAT THE FUCK! You just saw the repercussions of Meryam's pact: you all got trapped by Hamzakiir and your king was murdered!!? Whyyyy would you do this!? You were ready to die for your honour, to not ally with H, but this is ok?! Argh!</spoiler>

So far totally enjoying it! So with epic fantasy authors betting terrible at finishing series I had vowed to not start any that weren't done but forgot to check with this one. Then a quick check and I see it is finished! Phew! Sweet relief! I'd ignored that vow for Rothfuss and I'm so enraged I did! Argh!

I'm reading it too fast!! I need to slow down and relish it more! Haha! I'm loving this millionth read of one my favourite novels! :))))

Argh. sigh. :/ I haven't been as enthusiastic to pick up and read this book as I'd hoped. So it sits for days untouched. :( The writing is just as good as the first but I think I'm not finding it as engaging coz it jumps time periods sooooo much!!! 2-3 time periods around 1300 and several time periods around 1800! It's slightly confusing and definitely puts the brakes on any build-up of enjoyment of story. :(

Argh. But a good "argh". ;) This book is so good that I keep jumping ahead to skim the storylines of the main characters! It's hard to patiently read the other POV's.

Quite good so far! As it is often, you're spending a lot of the time in the beginning figuring out who's who and the background of the story. So it's a bit slow going for me, but the story and characters have totally captured my interest!

(although how the Japanese characters describe the American woman makes me cringe. :( They're so harsh about her appearance. :( But it doesn't feel gratuitous)

HUGE complaint: often chapters take place years after the previous chapter but she doesn't tell you that! You have to read a couple of confusing pages to figure it out! It makes for really disjointed reading, I'm always confused, never know where/when I am and I'm always playing catchup. Argh! But the world is fascinating and intriguing and it's keeping me engaged. :)

Started this back up two days ago. I'm not excited to read it but I did realize the world is intriguing me. :)

Ugh I hate short stories sometimes. So unsatisfying most of them. Or just plain weird like the Tanith Lee one in here that was just irritatingly confusing!

The Thing About Cassandra by Neil Gaiman : ech... I'm just confused about the ending. And disappointed coz of it. Meh.

I like when people update for each story when they read an anthology so I will too. :) You, and You Alone by Jacqueline Carey was amazing! I wish it was a novel coz it was too quick and superficial coz so short. But despite that I'm reminded her beautiful writing conveys mountains of feeling. And this is the story that starts all the intrigue and history of her first series. sigh. It was soooo good.... :)

I have to leave my other book unfinished a little longer coz this is also a library book so I need to read it sooner than later. (argh I really do prefer buying books! even if it's just to give them to a used bookstore later if I don't like them! :) But I borrowed this coz I'm excited to read Jacqueline Carey's story, it's Anafiel Delaunay's origin story!!
