My favourite all-time series. I waited as long as I could for the treat to read this book, after I obtaind a second-hand copy. Each hardcover prior took two years apiece to find at a reasonable price. My birth month is the time to treat myself: all good things, please!

It is funny that even while reading whatever people like to call the genre of evil contents that I dislike, "psychological thriller" or "crime thriller"; I am still not with the crowd. A good thing I love being original and new! I just had to laugh because I thought on this occasion, I would find a string of peers who had read the same novel. I see that even in thriller selection, I trundle out unique novels. ;>

I do not read psychological thrillers. I abhor even fictional violence, wherein our entertainment subjects and tones have complete choice. However, I am a fan who buys books she sees by favoured authors. Therefore, because Amanda Stevens and Sarah Rayne craft two of my favourite spirit mystery series; I allow a few of their individual novels too. Evil and gross content is not for me. I merely give some a whirl.

I love Elliott! Although his life finished a decade before I was born, at age 93, he is a tremendously masterful writer. What's more, Elliott connects with his case studies of the paranormal; keeping we readers drawn into his unbelievable stories. This is no culling of worn story facts but a presenting of his own work in all ways. His books will be easy to find, even if we today know Elliott O'Donnell less well.

I instantly love this book and Elliott O'Donnell! Although this author crafted real writing to be savoured, I believe I will whiz through this oeuvre of his today. It is no typical "collection of ghost stories" by far. It is one of few in which the author is the narrator for having gone to their locations and been a part of their stories. They are so well done by a true raconteur. I will seek all Elliott's work!

This is my one-thousandth book shared at Goodreads since 2012! To be clear, only a few are "to read". The one-thousand books these seven years were nearly all read. To Canadians: happy election day! We could have a woman prime minister and a decent change for the better.

I am trucking along when it is time to resume my evening reading. This is an unhappy perspective and selection but besides suggesting that one can research spirits in a positive light; it is well written. I am happy to share that this is my one-thousandth book contributed to Goodreads! Nearly all of these are read.! I do not designate anything as "want to read" unless I own the book and intend to read it shortly.

Here is an interesting statistic that Goodreads has presented for me: this is my one-thousandth book! It is as impressive for me as it sounds because I only add about 30 books I own and plan to read in my "to-read" shelf. Thus, these are nearly all book that I have read since 2012! Hip hip hooray!

Fantastic every page of the way! I did not stop reading it except to sleep, bathe, eat, and take care of plants outside. I came back in from outdoor responsibilities and continued this as soon as I could. I only stopped again to have supper with Ron. It is Thanksgiving Day but our great meal was yesterday. I am making sure everyone within my reach knows about this excellent novel. Now, I am eagerly resuming it!

I blew through more than half this book in my first reading! It is fantastic, better than most books that are popular and which are more readily available. I will do my best to get great gothic mysteries like this well-known, so that at the very least, you may strive to obtain a copy and enjoy this yourselves. They aren't "romantic suspense": they are more excellent, original, and interesting mysteries than most!

I was unable to see if yesterday's update worked and am redoing the short version. HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY this holiday Monday to my Canadian friends! The big thank-you is that our Mom is well, out of hospital, and at home! Our final prayer is that our Conan be reunited at home with us soon. Until that treasured day, I am grateful for the answered prayers, blessings, and miracles around us right now. Xo, Carolyn.

I am finally reading this 1898 early, famous ghost story. The sentences are long and cumbersome but if Henry had separated them; the wording is beautiful and elegant. Made into shorter spurts, his language in his time is an asset and has drawn me in. I love learning new and improved turns of phrases and to be reminded of vocabulary I have never used.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY THIS HOLIDAY MONDAY, TO MY CANADIAN FRIENDS! LOVE: Carolyn, Ron, and our kitties! Our Conan being home with us soon is our final prayer. First, I am thankful my Mom is alive, out of the hospital well, and healing. We don't want to worry again like we did in June. Nor do we want to worry again about any missing family member.

Manitoba, be careful with ice rain. Don't drive before Sunday.

I am loving this. Some tales might be generically spooky instead of ghostly paranormal. However, I see that these youngster stories are appropriately atmospheric to this Hallowe'en collection, superior to and more successfully than the adult tales in "Prevailing Spirits, Scottish Ghost Stories". Few in there could be called ghosts. They were depressing, some cruel to animals. These tales Edna picked are a treat!
