This has too many little kid tropes. This boy, whose age isn't stated or it would have helped readers to adjust, is written as a nervous Nelly about too many things under the sun. It becomes a demonstration of morals more than a story. In this novel, Jean Little needed to strike the balance between the message and entertainment forum. Without being given an age, we don't know whether to grimace or be sympathetic.

Happy 19th birthday to our dear McCartney today! We love you, McCart! Our darling Siamese is fed everything he likes and is served first. I took in-door lounging photos, superb for him but lower quality. We went outside for birthday pictures after Ron got home. Here is one of our boy & I!
With all our love, Conan, Carolyn, Ron, Spirit, Marigold, Angel, Petal. Xoxoxoxo! https://www.goodreads.com/photo/user/...

A fantastic book: illustrated colourfully and humorously as if it were for children, with short handpicked educational vignettes. However the information that those entail is almost wholly new to me, a plant-lover and gardener! Brief for grown-ups, very advanced and quite originally-chosen information for children. Ideal for anybody who wants to learn details about plant life new to most of us, or for smart kids.

This is the thick of things. Thanks to Emily Pollifax's unusual job structure and non-judgemental character, she makes valuable allies by choosing bizarre friends speedily. On the side, she helps a Zabyan boy and his Grandma, in the midst of thugs. I couldn't be gladder I bought all of these paperbacks new years ago, taking happy years to enjoy reading each spy adventure! Emily is a fit, smart heroine in her 60s!

I am a fan and reserve the great Dorothy Gilman for well spaced-out reading. She was plainly, obviously skilled; a real authoress. Her too-brief novels were action-packed, penned with economy for the sake of the pace; while never lacking in beautiful details, the character's relatable inner-thoughts, information we need to know, and uproarious humour. I like noting that I knew her standalone novels before these.

This is a wonderful return to Velda Johnston and a very good introduction to a peculiar city like Venice!

It is a pleasure to return to the gothic mystery genre of my childhood and to my second hardcover novel by Velda Johnston. There is an elegance and pleasure here that e-books will never approach. They are for people who just want to read the story text. The authenticity and pleasure of soft and hardcovers are for people who like books, the objects, over and above their story contents. That is an easy explanation.

Not a subject I read at all and the "R"-word is used far more than Martha needed to repeat it. It could have been "assault", "the case", "the scene". Being disgusted by this crime, like all people, I usually avoid books, television, or films that contain it: including "Game Of Thrones". I abhor the P.I. asking victims to repeat what they reported to police! I already own this, with a series, or I would skip it.

I did some grooving through these pages in the afternoon sun! Several of my kitties reposed in lawnchairs beside me.

I fell asleep again after too few pages. However, Ron & I planted the first six of our flowerboxes and flower hanging baskets, indoors!

I am still galloping along to this story and still stopping, only when I find myself asleep with my reading lamps and reading glasses on. I need to retire earlier to really get a good session in.

It is a good idea to revisit friends' profile bios, before sending a private / direct message or the "recommend button". I discussed with Goodreads staff for years, to please provide a checkbox to turn these off. Chat boxes are easier for talking and naming titles on slow internet. Goodreads declined, so I rely on friends to remember as best they can to avoid those. I long for notification of review comments! :)

We are galloping along! And indeed, this novel features a passionate love of horses, with which most people can relate. Even if many of us are not "of the horsey set", as it is phrased herein and seldom ride at a beginner's level; most people find it easy to love these strong, fast, graceful beauties.

It took hurdles to own a great, affordable copy of this. I have it! I had owned #4 and 5 for years and acquired #1 and 2 a few years ago. I needed this middle novel. The evening it arrived in the mail, last night, I began reading it right away!

A very unusual atmosphere, pace of intrigue, and mystery overall. We can often thank oldies for uniqueness!
