Intriguing new information has just been revealed about how the U.S. got into this post-apocalyptic state. Curious to see where this is going!

Excited about reading KSR's first book, set in a post-apocalyptic Southern California.

A fascinating project and a gorgeously designed book.

Engrossing, beautifully detailed portraits of people and relationships.

Perfectly written descriptions. Of a pregnant teenager's belly: "The buttons of her jeans are unsnapped to make way for its fullness, and also to indicate how it got that way in the first place."

The first story, Nemecia, is a carefully detailed portrait of an uneasy relationship between two sisters.

This book is brutal.

Wow, this gets dark, and completely gripping.

Thought I was going to stop reading after this chapter, but augh!

"Quint, more a brother than a cousin, had the Confederate flag tattooed on his left forearm, in case you didn't see the one on his right." The level of detail is what makes the uncomfortable humor in this book.

Engrossing start!

I keep being impressed by how many different subjects are explored in this story. Certainly the book is on the long side, and there are parts I think could have been tightened a bit, but it remains gripping.

So many fascinating things going on in this story.

This continues to be excellent.
