I've always felt that the Peter Pan story had dark undercurrents and I was interested in exploring those and bringing them to the surface. I also really liked the idea of Wendy as a mother going on an adventure, as portal fantasies - the original Peter Pan included - tend to focus on children having adventures and parents being left behind to worry off the page. Those were two of the big reasons that I wanted to re-tell and re-imagine the story. As for other classic stories and fairy tales - maybe! I've written some short fiction that reimagines fairy tales and other classics, but at the moment I have no immediate plans for something novel length. That's not to say I won't do something like that in the future!(less)
