Excellent, twisty story of religion and politics across four POVs, centring experiences of early motherhood.

Charming fantasy with sailing, found family and a slowly developing romance. This does stand alone, but if you've read one or both of the other two in this series, you'll spot references and guest appearances that are very fun!

“Little houses, bigger ones, scrolled and capacious porches, dark windows, leaves of trees already rich with May, homes of rooms which chambered sleep as honey is cherished, drifted past their slow walking and were left behind, and not a light in any home.”
James Agee, A Death in the Family

Elizabeth Bishop
“Close, close all night
the lovers keep.
They turn together
in their sleep,

Close as two pages
in a book
that read each other
in the dark.

Each knows all
the other knows,
learned by heart
from head to toes.”
Elizabeth Bishop, Edgar Allan Poe & The Juke-Box: Uncollected Poems, Drafts, and Fragments

Zack Schoppen
“So what's a nurse? [...]
Basically someone who does all the work of helping people without any of the credit.”
Zack Schoppen, The Midwizard of Cosconia

Isabel J. Kim
“Artificial or not, the knowledge of existing borders delineates the world. They are a social technology that creates emotional reality, that creates physical reality.”
Isabel J. Kim, Sublimation
