R.E. Bryant was born in Jersey City, New
Jersey, and raised in the high desert of
Southern California. Shortly after graduating
high school Bryant joined the US Navy and spent
the next two years serving his country and
traveling the world. After his enlistment, he
returned home where he met his
wife and started his own family. Twenty years later, he and his wife have two wonderful children, ages 7 and 10, three cats, two dogs, and whatever other stray animal that may come along. Outside of his inspiration for writing, he loves to hit the
golf course (when time permits), poker nights
with friends, and spending time fishing with his
wife and kids.

Some of Bryant’s earliest and fondest
memories often include the time he spent with

When I read other books I can tell almost immediately if I will like it. The style of writing, descriptions, plausible outcomes or events the author creates, will itself, inspire me to work harder at my own writing.

Other times while I am writing I might come across an idea and I include it in that particular chapter, which often adds to the overall impact I am looking for and turns our far better than I had hoped. If that idea has an effect on other chapters based on an event that I haven't written about yet, I often can't wait until I get there, and in a sense, am even more motivated to get the words down on paper. It's never really just one thing that will inspire me, rather it's usually a series of events. (less)

Frustration would soon follow and the best thing to do when I couldn't figure out how I wanted to approach a scene was pretty simple...step away. That was it. I went outside, or turned on the T.V, or listened to music. In time what I found truly worked if I wanted to get right back at it, was to put on a movie which inspired me. If I was writing an action scene I'd watch something like the Matrix or X-Men. If I was writing about a humorous scene I'd watch something I found humorous. It sort of helped "free my mind" (no pun intended to you Matrix fans) and suddenly...BAM! There it was. The solution I was looking for would just sort of pop up out of nowhere. (less)

A Noble Idea

Noble was inspired and written for different reasons. For many years I’ve always wanted to do something I had never done before. You know, try something new and see just how good you could be at it. There were many different ideas I had about what I wanted to try, but ultimately it was book writing that I settled on. It would allow me to develop my project from home without being away from family, Read more of this blog post »
