Goodreads asked R.E. Bryant:

How do you get inspired to write?

R.E. Bryant Typically after watching a movie or reading a book that I really liked will inspire me and get me in the mood to transfer that kind of inspiration into my story telling. When I read other books I can tell almost immediately if I will like it. The style of writing, descriptions, plausible outcomes or events the author creates, will itself, inspire me to work harder at my own writing.

Other times while I am writing I might come across an idea and I include it in that particular chapter, which often adds to the overall impact I am looking for and turns our far better than I had hoped. If that idea has an effect on other chapters based on an event that I haven't written about yet, I often can't wait until I get there, and in a sense, am even more motivated to get the words down on paper. It's never really just one thing that will inspire me, rather it's usually a series of events.
