On the top of my head, I'd say Pop 1.280, The Getaway and Nothing More Than Murder. They'll give you a good idea what he's (in)famous for.
Enjoy!(less)

This book isn't perfect. That's perhaps an obvious statement (few things are perfect), but with Kevin Brownlow as the author my expectations were sky high. Unlike David Lean's best epics, there are a few lengths here or ther

The series remains immensely readable. This entry is less concerned with (solving) crime. Instead, Spenser spends a lot of time pondering why 'his' Susan has moved to Washington, D.C. Neither he or the author are quite as deep as they probably think ...more

Shlocky Russ-Meyer'esque novel that happens to be the last on my Goodis pile of books to read. It's painful and fun at alternate times, a real piece of trash which twists that make you go 'wow'.
But it's be a huge stretch to call this crime.

Haile Selassie I
“Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war. And until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the colour of a man's skin is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained... now everywhere is war.”

- Popularized by Bob Marley in the song War

“I just can't listen to any more Wagner, you know...I'm starting to get the urge to conquer Poland.”
Woody Allen

Timothy Snyder
“Be calm when the unthinkable arrives. Modern tyranny is terror management. When the terrorist attack comes, remember that authoritarians exploit such events in order to consolidate power. The sudden disaster that requires the end of checks and balances, the dissolution of political parties, the suspension of freedom of expression, the right to a fair trial, and so on, is the oldest trick in the Hitlerian book. DO NOT FALL FOR IT.”
