J. J. Merelo Guervós nació en Ubeda, Jaén, España , el 10 de marzo de 1965. Casi el mismo día que Einstein (14 de marzo) y y el mismo dia del año que Fernando el Católico, Sharon Stone, Chuck Norris, José Antonio Labordeta, Osama Bin Laden y Bix Beiderbecke, un trompetista de jazz. Lo cual no quiere decir que se parezca a ninguno de los mencionados anteriormente. Tambien nació más gente famosa, entre ellos ¡Pedro Antonio de Alarcón y Martínez de la Rosa! O sea, que practicamente nació cuando todas las calles del barrio de Ciencias (chiste localista, no hacerle caso...).

Está licenciado en Ciencias Físicas por la Universidad de Granada en 1988 y doctorado por la misma universidad en 1994. Actualmente es Profesor Titular de Universidad , asign
