He joked that hormones must cause superpowers, and I joked back that if they do, menopausal women would have the corner on that market!

And, YES! The sequel is in edits right now, with a planned release of April 20, 2016. Change of Life picks up a few months after the end of the first book, with Jessica and Leonel having joined a super-secret underground group called The Department and Patricia on a woman-hunt for Cindy Liu. (less)

Beyond that, I'm trying to leave myself open to serendipity. While I love my books clubs because of the camaraderie and discussions, and because, with a sense of deadline I *make* time to read even when I'm very busy, I also like just picking what appeals to me on any given day.

Just another month or so of school, then I'm on that lovely summer break schedule with much more time for reading!(less)

"Having read Acid Reign by this author, I expected something different, to be honest. I was surprised and yet relieved to see how each of her characters are so unique! In this book, the relationship building is earned and a slow burn. The couple has a" Read more of this review »

"This was an ARC provided by the author.

I don't typically dive into this genre, but the story here is just plain good. It's a well-written novel about second chances that feels real, not like a predictable fairytale.

As a fellow Gen-Xer, what I appreci" Read more of this review »

Beware, this collection of short stories will have you nervously checking your rearview mirror, especially with Momma Shug lurking around. I'd describe these tales as downright spooky and creepy crawly. Luckily, the book is so well-written " Read more of this review »

“Sometimes, Helen felt like she had spent her whole life waiting to be “old enough” and then had crossed over into “too old” without finding out what it was she had been waiting for. It was only now, with the tingle of fire still on her fingertips and the smell of sulphur on her skin, that she felt she knew what she wanted.”
