I'm in two book clubs and I know I'll be reading my book club selections: Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier, Ross Poldark by Winston Graham, The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen, and La Rose by Louise Erdrich. Beyond that, I'm trying to leave myself open to serendipity. While I love my books clubs because of the camaraderie and discussions, and because, with a sense of deadline I *make* time to read even when I'm very busy, I also like just picking what appeals to me on any given day.

The idea started with a conversation with my husband about all these teenage superhero characters. He joked that hormones must cause superpowers, and I joked back that if they do, menopausal women would have the corner on that market!
And, YES! The sequel is in edits right now, with a planned release of April 20, 2016. Change of Life picks up a few months after the end of the first book, with Jessica and Leonel having joined a super-secret underground group called The Department and Patricia on a woman-hunt for Cindy Liu.

Luckily, this has not been a big problem for me. I get stuck in a story sometimes and I solve that by stepping away and doing something else for a bit (walking, writing something else, goofing off on the internet), but my problem is not usually being blocked--it's finding time to write all my ideas!

Write! Write more! Finish things. Don't be the master of great beginnings that never see fruition.

I'm in the beta reader stage on two novels: Change of Life (a sequel to Going Through the Change) and Cold Spring (the first of a historical fiction trilogy). I'm also working on cleaning up the middle grades novel I wrote for NaNoWriMo 2014.

Ideas come from everywhere, but my best ones seem to come from conversations with interesting people.

For Going Through the Change, the idea came from a conversation with my husband about how superheroes are always teenagers. I said that if hormones caused superpowers, menopausal women would be the most powerful people on the planet. And a book was born!
