Long, 700 page contemporary romances are like, one of my least favorite things in the world to read. and I. Did. Not. Notice. The. Length. Of. This. Book. I am a slow-ish reader compared to some of y'all, it takes me 3-5 days to finish a 350 page novel. I read THIS monster in 3 days (maybe 4), and that is FAST for me.

I just couldn't get enough. I couldn't get enough of all of it. Where do I even start??

Ok, lets start with the tension. THE TENSION. When Nyla K. said enemies, THESE TWO WERE ENEMYING. I can't even get over how much tension and chemistry built up between these two. Even after they started hooking up, they still kind of hated each other and it was DELICIOUS. This was the kind of tension that made you feel all tingly and giddy inside every time it snapped. It was truly a masterclass in creating tension between characters and the chokehold it had over me is insane.

The characters? Avi and Kyran? I would die for these two. protect them at all costs. That is all.

No seriously, the way I felt like I knew these characters, as real people that took over my mind every time I wasn't reading. The way I would hear a song or reference IRL that REMINDED me of one of these characters? The way I put the book down and was THINKING about these two?? Nyla K has some kind of magic in her writing and the way she created these characters.

I hear you reviewers out there that didn't enjoy how hot and cold Kyran was, the way he was so back and forth, and didn't treat Avi well at all in the beginning. Your feelings are valid. but the way I whole heartedly loved every second of Kyran's journey, bad parts and all. I lived for the toxicity, the angst, the turmoil he experienced, I lived for his sad, messy, chaotic self discovery, and I f*cking cried my eyes out at the revelations of his past and what he had to do to come back to Avi as himself. Talk about healing journey, this book's got that in spades.

Even after 700 pages and getting to the epilogues, I wasn't ready to leave them. I wasn't ready to let these two go because I enjoyed this story that much. This book is going in my top reads and will stick with me for a good long while. ...more "
