The final confrontation (and really the whole plot) was too much of a blip to base a whole book around.

This is a dip in the pond rather than a swim through the sea, but sometimes that's what you want. I don't think Fry's cheeky style would suit a longer or more detailed retelling anyway, but for this it's perfect. ...more
