Buddy Read Suggestions
Addy wrote: "Flesh is awesome!"You are right -- I ended up really, really liking that book!!! one of my favorites from the year. It was my first Richard Laymon novel.
I'm going to pick up from the library Night Film by Marisha Pessl today and start it this weekend or the beginning of next week if anyone is interested. It's not really horror but it is a mystery thriller and it seems like it could be good.

I just ordered Night Film from the library, so I'm going to read it sometime. It sounds good, but I'm not sure if it will come to me in time.
Charlotte wrote: "I just ordered Night Film from the library, so I'm going to read it sometime. I'd like to get it done before the end of the month because it's one of my books for a reading challenge, but I have other stuff to get to, too!
Rachel wrote: "I'm going to pick up from the library Night Film by Marisha Pessl today and start it this weekend or the beginning of next week if anyone is interested. It's not reall..."Darn it! I would have read this with you Rachel, but I have it on two different challenge lists for next year. (which is in a couple of weeks, lol)
I would be willing to do a buddy read with anyone that would like to read "Dracula" by Bram Stoker. It is in the January poll read, but it is looking like it will not make it. So if anyone would like to read it with me that would be cool. Just let me know when we could start. I am in the middle of reading Cell by Stephen King, but I can start anytime. :)
starting in January, I will be sending out a broadcast to draw more attention to buddy reads. so if you have suggestions, get them in before jan. 1 so I can mention them.

Greg and Aliyah (BooksNotDetention) both indicated a desire to read Dracula in the poll comments. As did I.
Dracula got 21 votes in the poll. That's huge buddy read potential. Hi Latasha, please help us put together a buddy read for this January.
Ok. I'll mention it in the broadcast I'm sending out on Jan. 1. I'll be sending one out very month to draw more attention to this thread.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...here is your buddy read for Dracula. have fun! I might join in, not sure yet. I've been thinking about reading all the books I have received for reviews before I read anything else but idk yet.. LOL! Dracula is really fun..!
I love Dracula! I won't be joining the buddy read, I have too many books to read, but I hope everyone enjoys it :)
I have checked out of the library and ready to go: The Winter People and The Terror.Someone put a hold on The Winter People already, so that gives me 17 days to read it, lol. I will start it probably Monday. Is anyone interested?
And since I always read more than 1 book at once, I'll start the Terror soon too... anyone else want to tackle this monster with me?
the thread for Pet Semetary, our 15th Stephen King read is up. it does not begin until JAN. 15TH. but you can come over and claim your spot if you want to join in. I'm really looking forward to this one. this will be my first time reading it but I have seen the movie. but it's been a while. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
John wrote: "I would read The Winter People with you, but I'm in 3 buddy reads right now. So, if you can't wait, then I can't."aw :( ordinarily I wouldn't mind waiting but someone put a hold on the book, lol. I will let you know when I actually am about to start reading it and maybe it'll be a better time for you. at the latest though it would be in a week.
next week I'm going to start listening to this version of The Divine Comedy if anyone wants to join in. you wouldn't have to listen or read this exact version. I picked it cause it has good audible reviews. http://www.audible.com/pd/Classics/Th...
If you read the Divine Comedy, do NOT read the freebie version off amazon. That translation was so difficult to get through.Footnotes about all the people passed would be helpful too. They may have been the "Kardashians" of their day, but in today's world are mostly obscure footnotes in the annals of history.

I have Dante's Inferno in my massive TBR pile, but not the Divine Comedy.

would anyone like to read along with me for a Winter Haunting, by Dan Simmons? I have the audiobook checked out.
Rachel wrote: "would anyone like to read along with me for a Winter Haunting, by Dan Simmons? I have the audiobook checked out."Hmm, that sounds tempting. I am nearly finished with my current audiobook, and had planned to jump to the sponsored read / listen next, but I've been interested in reading this book for a while, and had not actually picked up a copy of the other title yet.
When are you planning to start?
I am fairly flexible because I have the audio book checked out for 21 days :) so if you want to wait until next week (like Monday or later) that's fine with me
ALso would anyone want to read The Ascent by Ronald Malfi? I have it checked out of the library and plan on starting it next week.
Rachel wrote: "I am fairly flexible because I have the audio book checked out for 21 days :) so if you want to wait until next week (like Monday or later) that's fine with me"That would work well for me. I should have a lot of time to finish my current book on a drive Sunday, and may even start then. Fair warning, though, I don't get through audiobooks at a super high rate, so you may get ahead of me quickly. :-)
I actually even had Winter Haunting in my Audible library already and forgot I had bought it! :-) Guess that's a sign it's time to just do it...
awesome!!! I'll make a thread for us later for A Winter Haunting. I'll probably go thru it slow as well, I plan on listening to it at work and i may have to re-listen to parts if I get too distracted lol.
do you wanna start The Ascent say Tuesday or wedneaday, john? I wanna get The Terror done and I should be done with it by then. :)
Rachel wrote: "awesome!!! I'll make a thread for us later for A Winter Haunting. I may still try to sneak the promotional listen in ahead of it, but it's short.
so I saw this posted in another group and it sounds great! I think I'm gonna start doing this but I don't have twitter. does anyone want to buddy read these? Frankenstein is up for January. http://makingsenseofthestars.weebly.c...
John wrote: "Rachel wrote: "do you wanna start The Ascent say Tuesday or wedneaday, john? I wanna get The Terror done and I should be done with it by then. :)"OK, that's fine!"
Awesome :) i'll make a thread when it gets closer and let you know when I do.

I can read Goosebumps books on audio until then, lmao. Those are really easy to listen to at work.

Wow that looks really cool!! I can't do every month but I definitely see some months that I want to do, like March. I read Mary Reilly last year which is the servant's perspective to the Jekyll and Hide story but I never actually read Jekyll and Hyde!
Rachel wrote: "yes that's fine just let me know when you start it! I can read Goosebumps books on audio until then, lmao. Those are really easy to listen to at work. ..."Will do! It really should be later this week, but absolute latest next Monday (1/23). If you need to start before then since you've got to return it at some point, go ahead and I'll try to catch up. It'll motivate me to get to the gym, where I listen as well :-)
Robert wrote: "Rachel wrote: "yes that's fine just let me know when you start it! I can read Goosebumps books on audio until then, lmao. Those are really easy to listen to at work. ..."Will do! It really should..."
I started listening to it today, just a little bit ago so I'm only like 15 minutes in, lol. I know I will need to go back and re-listen. I think it's going to take a while to read, so no worries if you go slow, too. I will start our thread now :)
John, I should be done with the Terror in a couple of days, then I can start The Ascent. I'll make the thread on Thursday for us, if that works for you. :)
John, I made the page for The Ascent! https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...I'll probably start it tomorrow :D
So excited to get into another cold, chilly tale!!!!
(Before winter's over, I want to tackle The Abominable!!!)
i'll be sending out a buddy reads broadcast tomorrow, so if you have ones you would like to buddy read, mention them here.
