April Lyn (aprilallyear) I didn't have the day off, and don't have tomorrow off either. Sad face. At least I will have Sunday off, and will spend the day celebrating Jesus and watching movies with my husband :D

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments I don't have today off, but I did send in my seat deposit to Drake Law and got my con law midterm back! Graduation is so close!

I'm sick, so I plan on finishing my TBR twin book and finish season two of Game of Thrones, then I get to head home after work tomorrow!

AJ (ame-less) | 65 comments @Craig- wow, that sounds lovely! And awhile weekend to read, bonus!

I had to work, but left early to catch an exhibition baseball game between the Yankees and Nationals. Going to the season opener Monday, so that will be a half day- go Nats!

Am also behind on my goals, but now that Brothers Karamazov is finally done, making quick work of the next book- a Year in the Caliphs House.

Ashley Does anyone besides me watch college basketball? Did anyone see the Louisville/Duke game? That injury to Kevin Ware about made me sick to my stomach. I didn't know a leg could do that....

message 506: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments Yes I did. ew ew. So sad though!

message 507: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Yes, it was! Rick Patino said he would be out at least a year. His leg broke in 2 places, so he'll have to have some type of surgery and possibly some screws put in. I just hope this didn't end his basketball career. I have never seen anything like that, ever!

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments I'm still really grossed out by Ware's injury Ashley!

On a side note, Happy Monday to all. I know it was a rough morning for me and I'm slowly getting things accomplished. I can't believe it is April already.

This year is absolutely flying by to me!! The Hubby went back to "work" today. Yeah, he doesn't get paid considering he is still a student. I've been doing housework and about to settle down to read for a little bit. I'm still behind on reading, but hope to get caught up over the next week.

I'm happy about April!! It's birthday month for me! I've always been excited about my birthday. We'll see how that goes in a couple of years when I hit 30, LOL.

message 513: by Ashley (new)

Ashley It's not until the 25th of this month, but thank you! I hope it doesn't rain. Seems like I always get rain on my birthday (for as long as I can remember).

Ashley Since today is April Fools Day....

Did anyone pull any cool pranks today?

message 516: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments My body played a nice one on me...I have pink eye :( After being knocked out sick all last week! Good one body!

message 517: by Ashley (new)

Ashley That isn't cool! I hope your eye feels better soon. :/

On a funnier note, I got my Hubby by taking the batteries out of the remote control (his 2nd love). What is it with guys and television? He pushed every button on the remote and then said, "I think the batteries are dead". LOL

my son did...he came home with a detention slip that he was expelled from school till August and the counselor felt like he needed counseling. Blew my mind and blood pressure because he hardly ever gets in trouble, He got in trouble for fighting. He said he was just tired of a kid giving him crap... that didn't sound like him either I was shocked... picked up my phone to call his teacher at home and he started laughing which made me even madder, that he thought this was funny... then he said "April fools" I could have killed him and his teacher.!!!! oh well... at least it wasn't true.

message 523: by AJ (new)

AJ (ame-less) | 65 comments ebook readers - Barnes and Noble is having a big sale on Nook books - 50%. One of the things I don't like about ebooks is how hard it is to get a deal on them. Most of the stuff is mass market - but there's some gems in there too - House Girl and Yellow Birds for example at 50% off. (I won't lie, mostly I'm buying trash to save for a rainy day)

message 524: by Robyn (new)

Robyn | -15 comments thanks for the heads up on the sale!

message 525: by Ashley (new)

Ashley I have noticed that Amazon is having a good sale on some of their Kindle books. For example: The Silver Linings Playbook was $9.99 and now $4.99. The Storyteller was $12.76 and now $7.76. I think it is only through today, too. So, if you have a Kindle might want to check out some of the popular titles right now to see if they are on sale. :)

This is great! It's too bad our April group read, Matched, isn't one of them, but I found quite a few of current and former buddy reads on sale like Wolf Hall and The Great Gatsby.

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Saw "The Host" last night. I read the book a few years ago and liked the unique perspective on an alien invasion. I really enjoyed the movie adaptation! Anyone else seen it yet?

message 528: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 910 comments I saw it too and thought it was a really good. They didn't mess up the book (though some things were different) and it was really enjoyable to watch. I loved the way they handled the whole Wanda/Melanie thing, which was what I was most worried about.

Between this and Out of Print Clothing, my life would be made. I'm actually moving for law school and had planned on Pride and Prejudice quotes anyways on my walls! This is so cool!

Here's my other addiction:

I have the Great Gatsby and Pride and Prejudice :)

Good luck, Kelsi. My Hubby and I are moving back to North Carolina in August to live with my parents for about 10 months until he graduates. (We'll probably split time between his parents too since they only live 5 minutes away). When he graduates next May, we will be moving to wherever his residency is (Hopefully still in North Carolina). Luckily, we will be in that spot for 3-6 years...hallelujah!! I'm sick of moving! Plus, he'll be making money and I myself can go back to school to get my masters and hopefully start my career....all while hopefully adding kids to the mix...whew!

There are a lot of hopefullys in that paragraph, lol. We'll see!

message 540: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments Thanks! Ashley your life sounds hectic! What do you want to get your Masters in?

My boyfriend is in med school for Physical Therapy, so not as legit as your hubby, but he will be moving to New Jersey in September for six months for his first clinical. It's going to be quite the adjustment for me, which is why I decided living at home would probably be the best. Josh and I have always been no more than 45 minutes apart, so after four years of dating this is going to be a huge change!

BattyKat (prosserkat) Is anyone in of from Boston??

message 547: by AJ (new)

AJ (ame-less) | 65 comments From Mass and lived in Boston for 6 years, 3 years along the marathon route. It's a much loved tradition, added to by the fact it's a state holiday - Patriots Day. My heart breaks to have that tradition tarnished by this violence and goes out to those who were injured or lost friends and loved ones. Most of my friends have checked in, so I am lucky to be grieving only indirectly.

I can't even imagine! One of my good friend's cousin was running in the race. She had finished 30 minutes prior to the explosion but it took several hours for her to call out and let everyone know she was safe.

Thoughts and prayers to everyone impacted by this senseless tragedy. We keep having more and more of them and it is just sad.

message 550: by Kelsi (new)

Kelsi (essentiallybooked) | 751 comments Really hoping that any of our members in the Boston area are safe. Thinking of you today, and hoping the chaos ends in a safe manner. ♥♥♥ all around.
