Our second group anthology-Submissions to Ignite by end of September, please.
Andrew Lawston's first line was "While I prepared to poison my girlfriend, I sorted through the previous day's post, tutting at the number of takeaway menus they were still sticking through the letterbox in spite of our polite sign asking them not to."The Troll line was Andy Barrett's. NOT his usual thing!
Well, they say you should 'write what you know'...For tweeting purposes, I'd suggest ending on "takeaway menus", or even "post" if you're putting a link in.
I'm tweeting them as I hear them if anyone wants to copy or retweet: https://twitter.com/RosenTrevithick
“Hello Melvin, this is God Speaking. Please don’t be alarmed.”From one of Darren Humphries' offerings.
Ignite wrote: "I could sort some more quotes out later - or alternatively you could givre your favourite quote from your own story?"'Last night I dreamed I went to Margate Pier again'?
Ignite wrote: "Now here I am, sitting in this egg that’s just been taken out of a chicken’s nest, waiting to be fried by some idiot for breakfast: - Will Macmillan Jones."Major spoiler!!!
Well the first line from my contribution is"After seventy-nine years, it all ends here."
Not sure if it tells anyone anything or not.
Not sure if the whole piece is long enough to take a quote from :-(
I'm getting a bit lost - which are real quotes from the book and which are people having a chat? Perhaps we should tweet our own and start a hash tag?I propose #Salmagundi
The hashtag is a great idea, but perhaps we should hold fire on doing this until the book is actually launched? I think our tweets will be more effective when there's a proper call to action in them (i.e. buy the book). And then the #Salmagundi hashtag will look like a wonderfully strange conversation - it will be like walking through the maddest party ever, picking up snippets of other people's lives!
Ignite wrote: "By the way, how are you getting on?"Progressing. It's more about tweaking now than major formatting. I'll be sending you over a file to email to your kindle to see what you think by (or over) the weekend.
I'm also designing the poster and programmes for the local drama society production, so it's all a bit manic at the moment. Oh, and there's the kids as well of course.
I agree, a push once it's launched would be most effective. If we blitz twitter with quotes and hashtags after launch, people might think 'Ooh, I read that somewhere last week, so it must be good.'

If we coordinated every author in the book and we all tweeted loads of times on the same day, all including #Salmagundi, that might draw in quite a lot of curious people.
Team Salmagundi, synchronise your twitter-watches!
I'm far too disorganised to be synchronised, but I will certainly be plugging the collection pretty hard across all channels once the book's released, and the hashtag seems like a good plan.
I don't remember how mine started. It all seems so long ago.... I think it was something about a railway station.
Has anyone heard how the bloke who is trying to beat the skydive record is getting on.?
I am so looking forward to Salmagundi will certainly plug it as I know it will be great with all you wonderful writers but I am not going to be a twitter ,my daughter Twits so will make her do it ,do we have a date when it will be out ?
The date depends on how much Darren still has to do, Kay. He only has evenings to fit it in - and I'm afraid I'm a bit random in the things I've rationalised or left different when I send it to him. I don't make it easy for him!

This is all rather exciting, isn't it?Seems I've mentioned it to a few people at school, who have mentioned it to others, who are now stopping me in the hall to ask about 'this book you're publishing soon'
Talk about Chinese whispers!
Don't worry, I'm setting them straight! Nowt to do with me!
