Vaginal Fantasy Introduction Thread
Hello, all!I'm Russell (apparently one of the few guys here).
I gave my young son a T-shirt several years ago with the logo "Vagina envy." I don't know that this little hierloom necessarily qualifies me to enter into discussions on the topic, but I'm game if any of you are.
Other than that, I'm a writer -- with both fantasy and imagination, though without a vagina.

Russell wrote:"I don't know that this little hierloom necessarily qualifies me to enter into discussions on the topic, but I'm game if any of you are."Well there is no game here but I'm sure you will find a few gameRS. I'm sorry I just had to do this :), really sorry :D. And yep, check Off-Topic part of group and you will find some threads about games :).
Hi, I'm Jessica. I'm a SAHM of two pre-teen boys. I wasn't necessarily always a big geek, but I am getting geekier every year. I do read a lot and Urban Fantasy has been my genre of choice for several years. That and mysteries. I have read some of the paranormal romance, but am always looking for more to read. My first read for VF was Ill Wind. Loved it!
Hey Everyone! I'm Sophie, I've always loved books. Took a hiatus off reading for a while, but couldn't find anything interesting since there's just a lot of crap. Apparently I reminded my friends enough to think I'm just like Felicia Day, since they told me I had to watch Eureka because of the awesome redhead. I'm taking that as a huge compliment. I like gaming, comics, sci-fi, classic novels, Dr. Who, Warehouse 13, & True Blood (to name a few). Which led me to this group, and it sounds really fun.
Hello, hi. My name is Candace and I'm new to GR. I've been neglecting my "vaginal fantasy" genre reads lately (I used to read these kinds of books *way* more often), so I thought this group would be a good way to help me get my groove back, so to speak.I especially love sci-fi/fantasy, and like many of you seem to, I also love video games.
I'm looking forward to reading books and having some discussions with y'all!
Hey guys and gals! I'm Haven. I am 31 and live in Kentucky. Married, no children. You can usually catch me in my girl cave, either with a game controller or a book in my hand. My mom introduced me to books when I was around 4 years old and I can't thank her enough for that. It opened up whole new worlds for me. I can still remember the first book she got me. I wore that thing out.
Reading, as a past time, went to the side for some years while I pursued school and other activities. I just got back into this past year.
As for my reading interests, right now, I am smut addict but I also love paranormal and historical romance, horror, and classic lit.
/wave I'm Jenn. I'm a sahm of an 8yo girl and living in NW Georgia. I'm geeky and love to read. My geek manifests mostly in tv, but has been known to creep into other areas as well. I did a stint of reading Harlequins when I was a teen, but mostly got away from the romance genre for many years. I used to be heavy into the supernatural genre, but lately have only really been sticking with the series I was invested in and haven't tried a lot of new stuff. Some time at the end of last year, I felt like I was getting into a rut as far as reading goes, so I picked up some stuff I normally don't read: romance. I've been working my way mostly through Julia Quinn (love!) and Eloisa James with a few random ones thrown in. Other than that, I like fantasy a lot, some SF, some general fiction, some chick lit, mysteries (both regular and cozy), and classics. I also read an (un)healthy dose of YA. I'm a sucker for cheesy teenage melodrama (and that's why I'm totally hooked on Pretty Little Liars, both tv show and book series). And seeing as I have an 8yo, I end up reading some juvenile fiction too. My Little loves to recommend books to me and she takes her recs very seriously. :) Some of my favorites are Robin Hobb, Bujold, Austen, GRR Martin, Rowling, and Gregory (before the Cousins' War). My favorite book, since late high school, has remained Jane Eyre.
I actually sought out this group here at GR when I saw there'd be a Vaginal Fantasy panel at Dragon*Con and I'm excited to attend! D*C's the only con we do since we're local, but we love it. This will be my 11th or 12th D*C.
Been lazy about introducing myself, but I guess I might as well! 29-yr-old out in LA, doing the film/tv thing. Writer type. Huge nerdball. Buffy fan from whenever, came across the Guild after Dr. Horrible. Found Vaginal Fantasy from following Geek & Sundry on Twitter and thought it was the most brilliant idea ever. Seriously. I'm sad it wasn't mine! I mean, smut, ladies, and wine. What's not to love?I've been a romance reader since middle school. Also love sci fi & horror. Although I don't read much sci fi romance. Or horror romance. Or sci fi horror romance. That seems silly, I feel like I would love these things. I'm working on expanding/mashing up my genres.
Hey, Im Casey. I am new to VF group. I read like crazy. I have two kids so i kind of stopped reading for awhile now getting back into it. I am a avid gamer. I love all the Halos and Call of duty, but right now im trying to get into Skyrim. I am into any type of romance.
hello my name is Vikki. I'm a new member and Ill wind is my first romance book ever. I live in Florida, US and am really excited to continue with this group.
23-yo linguistics student&public-speaking club president&business partner of an event company from Poland. :) VF is about my kind of books, they relax me in the morning before stressful meetings (reading Kushiel's Dart on my e-reader in a business suit 20 mins before the meeting I really hoped my thoughts didn't show on my face;) ), tests exams and get me high in the evenings after a long day.
Hi, I'm super late to this. My name is Brie, and I'm so behind on what books to pick up. I love reading, but I've been out of reading regularly for years. I used to read romance all the time, and then moved into fantasy, but now I read (and write) sci-fi and fantasy on a SUPER rare basis, with interspersed romance. I'm a married, 24 year old admin assistant by day and write for Gaming as Women by night (my Bat-like alter-ego). Nice to meet you all!
Hey, I'm Matt. I've watched all the shows thus far, and have read a few of the books (Slave to Sensation, Gabriel's Ghost and Kushiel's Dart) when I wasn't reading something else. I loved Kushiel's Dart, as for the others..
Hi peoples, my name is Chay, or Kimberley, whichever is quickest to type at the time. I'm 24 and have been reading so long my parents have frequent arguments over what exactly my first word was (mum says it was book, I'm more likely to believe her since she has a better memory than dad). I joined VF after watching the most recent hangout, one because it was highly amusing and interesting and two because it made my day better since I hadn't been feeling to well.
So it was nice to meet evyone and I look forward to being a part of this group
I'm Jonelle! I've been following Felicia Day in a non-creepy way for years, but hadn't actually checked out VF until the most recent hangout. Interestingly enough, I remember Bonnie from a Nine Inch Nails message board I used to frequent and I feel like we might have a mutual friend or two. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised to see her as part of this. All the girls are adorable and even though I wish they cursed a bit more, being part of the book club seemed like an interesting and fun idea. Especially after I saw the cover of Bonnie's book for next month and heard about dinosaur sex. Yeah, count me right in for that.
I don't normally read romance or sexytime novels, but I love sci-fi, fantasy, supernatural, etc. genres so I figured as long as they have a bit of that I won't be bored. Also sexytime.
I'm also reading Hugh Howeys books right now, so hopefully I can juggle three+ books as well as the six other college textbooks that should get priority (but totally won't).
ohai!

Hi! I'm Jo. I started watching VF recently and I have to say... it is crazy funny! I totally love the show. I'm 29 and I'm from Malaysia but right now I am working in Germany. (Any meet ups around Europe pls do let me know...) Okay.. i used to read historical romance but then i stopped for a very very long while. I guess i stopped coz there was just no friends to talk about the books I read. SO I mainstreamed...started reading more serious-er books but then i realized i need something light and easy to read too once in a while... so VF thanks for getting me back on this wagon! Lol.
Looking fwd to awesome book recommendations and discussions.
Hi! I'm Marie, from New York. I've been following Felicia on Facebook and Geek and Sundry for a long time now. I'm big into graphic novels, video games and fantasy/sci-fi books. I came across Vaginal Fantasy only a few months ago and I love it! I showed a few of my friends some of the older episodes and we decided to have our own vaginal fantasy hang out night!
I'm looking forward to next months pick! :)
Hi everyone! My name is Heather and I'm from Texas. I love sci-fi/fantasy books - especially those with the erotic twist. I had no idea this group existed until I read an article with Veronica Belmont in this month's issue of geek magazine. I'm so excited to meet people who are into the same kind of books I am and I can't wait to read new ones! :)
Hi! I'm Rachel, I'm a 30 year old mama of one and geeky bookworm and gamer. My fiancé surprised me with an iPad so I can start reading again (paper books and babies aren't a great combo, I found) and and I do enjoy a bit of SF/F romance as well as many, many other genres so I had to join VFH!
I've been into sci-fi since I was very small, my dad and I watched Star Trek together and when I was 10 he gave me the collected short stories of Isaac Asimov. I love many authors but notably Tim Powers and Neil Gaiman.
My Books of Shame are the Ancient Future series by Traci Harding which I loved when I was 14 and still have them all because books are not thrown away in our house and no one will take them from me.
Other hobbies are baking, sewing, crochet, live action roleplaying, tabletop gaming, console gaming (Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, forever!) and baby proofing bookshelves (2 down, 6 to go). I don't play MMOs anymore because nap times don't last long enough for a raid...

you never watched the guild it seams since you state nap times don't last long enough for a raid
I am 31 and live in Charlotte, NC. My husband and I have read Laurell K. Hamilton's books together for ten years and George R. R. Martin's for five. I have always loved Jacqueline Carey and Guy Gavriel Kay and finally got said spouse to read Kushiel's Dart recently. We saw the VF panel at Dragon*Con in Atlanta this past weekend and I'm hooked!
Hello, I'm Krysta, and I hail from Ohio. I've been a reader for....uh....ever, actually. A friend of mine recommended this group, and I'm looking forward to discussing books with people who actually read them and are interested in talking about them, unlike my local, IRL friends. When I'm not reading, I'm knitting, spinning wool, embroidering sassy things, writing, or taking care of my two small kiddos. Usually I'm trying to do several of those things at a time, which leads to some interesting results sometimes. At the moment I'm trying to wrangle up some IRl friends to play a Dresden Files game I want to run, as Jim Butcher is one of my favorite writers right now. I'm always looking for more recommendations, so I'm hoping this group will be right up my alley!
Hi, everyone. My name is Tereza and I'm from Prague (the European one). I read a lot, eversince I learned to read the people around me very often had trouble getting me away from any book I was reading at the time. I started reading in English some ten years ago since the selection of books is vastly bigger than in my own language. I have rarely read romance books before joining VF group but I find I like it a lot. When I don't read I like to play video games, go to cinema or theatre or go out with friends. I also like to travel (although I'm not really fond of flying the security stuff is annoying).
I am happy to be a part of this group :)
I am Jen, and I just joined VF after attending the panel at Dragon*Con last weekend. It was my favorite panel of the weekend, and I knew I had to connect with these ladies on a regular basis. The fact that the book club focuses on romance NOT erotic (right Felicia?) literature was a bonus! I downloaded this month's pick on Sunday and have already read a few of the stories. TENTACLES, Veronica!I am an avid reader and actually read my 1st romance novel at 12. My interests range far and wide from sci fi/fantasy to history to romance to travelogues to just about anything.
Looking forward to reading along with you all.
I'm also a post-panel newcomer. Big fan of Ilona Andrews [who came up in the discussion] and of hearing a range of opinions [variation in opinions within the VF group was both claimed and demonstrated], so it seemed like a good fit based on what I saw and heard at the panel. Tentatively. Time will tell.If it helps y'all any to put a voice/face behind whatever I might say (for those who were at the panel, anyway) I'm the fellow that asked the question about slow or fast romance arc pacing.
As far as who I am... well, as a reader, I mostly read science fiction and fantasy. Plenty of it does trend towards the romance end of the pool.
I've had more trouble with just stumbling across new books on my own in the last few years - I've been working on my doctorate on the west coast, and few of my new friends out here in SoCal are into reading books for pleasure.
My name is Kevin I live in Detroit and I am new to the VF genre. My favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi. My top 2 fav books of all time are The Journey to the West and The Count of Monte Cristo. When I'm not reading I am usually playing Minecraft DayZ or APB.
Hi everyone! My name is Megan, as you can tell from my very clever handle, and I live in the DC area. Like many people (or at least that's what I tell myself), my very first smut came courtesy of Harlequin. I used to skim the "plot" to get to the sex (hey, I was a tween). I graduated to Anne Rice in high school, reading her Beauty books on the sly during algebra. I read mostly smut in high school, before branching out in college to historical fiction, nonfiction, sci-fi, and fantasy. Now I'll read just about anything. My iPad is a terrible enabler. I've got five library cards from three different states, just so I can mine their cybershelves. I'm currently reading six books, print and digitial: To Marry an English Lord, thanks to "Downton Abbey"; The Shallows; A Feast for Crows; Leviathan Wakes; Freakonomics; and, of course, this month's book, Cthulhurotica. When I'm not reading or thinking about reading, I'm knitting, wandering around DC, or watching TV. My favorite shows are usually imports from the UK: Law & Order UK, Luther, Doc Martin, Doctor Who, Touching Evil, Wire in the Blood, Vera, Black Books, The IT Crowd, Green Wing, etc. etc. etc. I love Netflix and I have a healthy queue of what my father calls "those weird movies" (i.e., foreign films), documentaries, cartoons, comedies, thrillers, and ass-kicking, mindless action movies. I'm also a student by night (getting my MPS in publishing) and an editor by day.
This is my first Goodreads book club and I'm excited. I can't wait to talk trash with all of you wonderful people. :-)
Kamil wrote: "you never watched the guild it seams since you state nap times don't last long enough for a raid ."... Really? One post in and I'm being told my real life experiences are incorrect because they don't match up to a comedy web series (that I love and have rewatched many times).
Please, Kamil, educate me on how I can fix my life so it matches your expectation based on fiction.
Also, seems.
Hello! I am a 32 year old lawyer in the mid-west who likes to escape from the ugliness of reality by reading. I attended the VF DragonCon panel and I suddenly felt like I fit in and was not alone! It was wonderful! I frequently read romance/historical fiction/fantasy novels, with Anne Bishop and Jacqueline Carey being my two favorite authors in the genre of VF. I am so very happy to have found an outlet for my reading addiction. Thank you Felicia Day!
Hello All! I'm Caitlin, and I am new to being part of an online book club. I was part of a book club in High School and Junior High. I've been reading lots of classical fiction and fantasy books. I have never read anything termed "vaginal fantasy" before. I am really excited to join this group!
Rachel wrote: "Kamil wrote: "you never watched the guild it seams since you state nap times don't last long enough for a raid ."... Really? One post in and I'm being told my real life experiences are incorrect ..."
it wasd a joke, but thank you Mrs perfect aka gramar nazi for correcting my mistake.
What oh! My name is Christopher, I'm a chap from The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, I drink tea, eat terrible food, like Gilbert and Sullivan and stand when 'God Save the Queen' is played. All in all a bit of an Englander (but not in a nationalistic way, I lean to the left if anything)I like long walks in the park, ellipses, the word antediluvian and syllepsis.
I'm slightly manic (as you may be able to tell) and have a penchant for correcting people (which I'm working on overcoming)
As a final note I would like to say;
"The English are moral, the English are good, and clever and modest and misunderstood" - Michael Flanders
Hi I'm Carrie. I've just watched the 1st vaginal fantasy episode today and love it. I have never read fantasy, had no interest until my friend gave me a 1st draft copy of his new fantasy novel and I'm hooked!!! I've been looking for some good girly fantasy books to get me started so very excited to find the group.
I admit however I am a Bonnie Burton bookclubber...I turn up saying I've almost finished the book when I'm only actually half a chapter in...I'll work on that though lol.

I just thought I would come and say hi instead of lurking about so HI! :D I hail from the wonderful land of Oz better known as the desert island that is Australia where everything is overpriced and no one ships there unless you give them a thousand dollars and your soul*.
* That might've been a slight exaggeration.
I've been reading fantasy books since I could read, my first obsession being Enid Blyton and her magical lands when I was 4 and my current one being the Dark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I joined the Vaginal Fantasy Hangout goodreads after discovering it while watching every episode of The Guild when sick and then progressing onto watching every Geek & Sundry video. I thought it would be a good way to get back into reading (I used to read a book a week and now I'm lucky if I read one every couple months) and it seemed fun.
Anyway, this has turned into a lot longer than the planned I'm Adele, I'm from Australia, Hi everyone so I'm going to sign off now.
Feel free to message me hi or whatever.
x
Hi my name is Joyce....and I'm a bookaholic. I am 47, married twice (got it right after the second time lol) I have an autistic son who is 26. I live on Long Island in New York.I have been a member of Sword and Laser grip from the beginning. Veronica is my hero! I joined in on the first Vaginal Fantasy hangout from the beginning but just recently found this group on Goodreads. This is right up my alley since I love paranormal romance/fantasy type and urban fantasy books.
I just need more time to read but then again who doesn't?
I work as an assistant manager at a medical transcription company full time and do medical transcription at home at night. My husband doesn't understand how I can read a book after all that time on a computer screen. I love my ereader and find I don't want to hold an actual book anymore.
I guess that is enough for now.
Well, this is the introduction thread, so I suppose I shall introduce myself. I'm Emi, and I'm fairly new to GoodReads (I registered some time ago and promptly forgot about it), and new to VF as well.
I've been an avid reader for about 24 of my 28 years of life, and got hooked on SciFi and Fantasy at an early age. I was introduced to VF at Dragon*Con this year, and have started watching the YouTube videos in between sending out job applications (I recently graduated with my second bachelor's, and am in the process of completely switching careers...it's a long story). And I'm absolutely loving it!
Well, this is all for now...

Hi, I'm Dajinxed1. I just discovered VF last week on youtube and am excited to find a book group that is more about the enjoyment of the books than picking them apart bit by bit. I have found that paranormal, sci-fi, and fantasy novels have pretty much taken over my reading and that most of the books are also listed as paranormal/fantasy romance novels.
Authors that I am reading at the moment are:
Jennifer Radin - her Jaz Parks series. I just finished her last book and learned sadly that she has passed and the series cannot be finished.
Patricia Briggs - her Mercy Thompson and the Alpha and Omega series ROCK!
Gena Showalter - Lords of the Underworld series. Alpha male driven but neat concept.
Deborah Cooke - Dragon Fire series
Majorie M. Liu - Hunter Kiss series
Sherrilyn Kenyon - Dark Hunter, Were Hunter, Dream Hunter and Hellion series
I'll stop here because I could continue for a long while.
OH Yeah, if you like the pure sci-fi books look for;
Robert J. Sawyer - his trilogy of Wake, Watch and Wonder are amazing!
Hi guys! I'm Dee, I'm a 27-year-old geeky anime chick and I've known about Vaginal Fantasy for a while now, but I'm only just joining. Happy to be here. :)As for genres, I'm very into general SF, erotica, queer fiction and young adult fiction. I'm originally American but I've been living on and off in the UK for the past six years, and am very much inspired by both UK and US subcultures.
You can follow me on Twitter @danimmediacy if you like. :)
Looking for to hanging out with you lovely people!
Hi, my names Jenn. I'm from NB, Canada <3 I'm 24, married, with one beautiful ginger daughter (takes after mommy) I love reading and gaming (although my computer just died :( ) I'm a book blogger from a YA blog called Owl Read It. I enjoy many different genres (pretty much everything) and have actually been in this group for awhile, just haven't said much. I do enjoy reading the books though ;)
I think that's about it because I'm a fairly boring person with basically no social life :) But I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better!
Hey, my name is Melissa, and I'm from Utah. The truth is that most women from the ages of 18-60 year old women in this state read erotic novels; and anyone who says other wise is lying. I'm 23, and a happily married mother of two. Reading is my escape, and paranormal erotic is my my usual destination; add in some BDSM, and I'm in heaven! Erotic novels spiced up my sex life like I couldn't believe! Who needs marriage counseling? Pick up one of those, and problem solved. ;)

Yay for gingers! <-- like Anne of Green Gables my hair has settled to a "respectable" auburn, but I was definitely a red headed child... and still red headed now sometimes, with cosmetic assistance...

It's a little more lengthy (ok a lot more lengthy) than your average paranormal romance... but so good, and definitely some bdsm stuff in there..
Hi everybody! I'm Amy and I am from SE Wisconsin. I have been watching VFH since it started but September was the first month I was able to fit reading the books into my schedule. Hopefully, I will be able to continue reading along with the group. I have enjoyed reading my whole life. I am like reading all different genres but I'd have to say my faves are fantasy, alt history, classic fiction, mystery, true crime, and horror. This is my first attempt at reading any Vaginal Fantasy and I have enjoyed it so far! Happy Reading!
Hey all! I'm Lindsay, 24, from Arizona. I am seriously so excited that I stumbled upon Vaginal Fantasy (thanks to Felicia's Twitter), because these are exactly the kind of books I read. Actually having like-minded people to talk about them with is going to be amazing and I can't wait.Just a little about me: I have a degree in Creative Writing and Media Arts, but am currently employed in an area completely different. I've started to realize that no matter my job, writing is something I can always do. Thus I have started a blog to force my writing upon the public!
http://lindsaybethlogan.wordpress.com/
When not reading or writing, you can almost always find me playing video games (FTL, Borderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2 atm).
:D
Hi Everyone! My name is Jordan. I just joined this group as well as the sword and laser group. I am new to this genre but I have been following it for sometime now and decided to join in.I have always been a fan of the guild so when Geek and Sundry was announced I was so excited and I have watched all of the content it has to offer.
I work in IT as a desktop tech. I recently Moved to San Diego but I am from Buffalo NY. I love to read but I had put it on hold due to the ridiculous amount of reading I did in college. I am also a big video game and board game fan. Most of my friends call me a geek in training cause I only got into all of this stuff in college. Now college is over so now its time to get back to reading and discovering new awesome books.
I'm so excited to start reading I had also heard that some people meet up to discuss the books and if anyone in San Diego wanted to start something like that I would totally join in!
Hi everyone!I'm Sarah from North Carolina. I'm eager to start reading some more books! I do love fantasy and some romance so this should be fun.
I'm in college again (first degree was in English so.. not exactly a good job finding degree), this time doing a Library Information Technology degree. So yay.
I love The Guild and am eagerly waiting to see the new season. Nice to meet you all.
Hi!I'm Liisa. I'm a 40 year old stay at home mom of 3 in Central WI. My husband is currently in Afghanistan. My mom has worked at Barnes and Noble for over 30 years now, so books have always been a big part of my life. I read mostly epic fantasy and horror. I love a good ghost story. I love video games, geeky tv shows, recently discovered Dr Who (what the heck took me so long?) and hope one day to make a friend who doesn't back up slowly when I say I want to go grocery shopping dressed as a jedi.
I watched the show for the first time last night and I am hooked. I excited to start reading.
Hi, I'm Bonnie, I'm 41, I live in NC, and I'm a Smurfette. I'm an analyst for a small IT company where I'm the only female employee out of 40 men. This means I don't have to share my office bathroom. Hurrah! It has a lobby where I can hide and do yoga when the guys are stressing me out. I was stuck in an airport earlier in the year and ran out of things to read, so I watched VF's "Slave to Sensation" hangout on my phone and have been following it since.
My favorite authors are Donald E. Westlake and Terry Pratchett. I love mystery/sci-fi short story collections, but I will read smut to kill time, usually historical romances, so most Vaginal Fantasy picks are brand new territory.
Gaming: I loved Baldur's Gate/Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal so much, I stockpiled extra copies of the series in case I ever damaged my CDs. Like, backup-backup-backup copies! In the early 00's I got involved in creating game content add-ons through the BG fandom with Infinity Engine modding. I wrote and coded for projects like Keto NPC, Quest Pack, Banter Pack and Turnabout. I loved those Bioware games because of the storytelling, character interactions, and the depth of the world, so it was huge fun to build onto that with other fans.
Nowadays, the main gaming I do is Dungeons & Dragons Online. I play on the Cannith server, and I have a featured myDDO blog where I try to not complain in every post about armor kits and the lack of gnomes.
My other hobbies include swimming and vacuuming up cat hair.

I love Clara, but I'd like to think I'm a much better mom, lmao!
