NO!

message 152: by Robert (new) - rated it 4 stars

Robert Wright I'm thinking it should be redone, from the beginning, as a quality TV series---think Game of Thrones.

That way the slower (though vital) parts of the story could be covered, other characters given their due, and something epic truly developed, rather than the rushed action/fantasy B-film that was Eragon.

So much of Eldest is not focused on Eragon, you know that would not make it into a 2-hour film. The whole Roran/Carvahall storyline is much better to structure over a multi-episode arc. In a movie adaptation you'd be lucky if it got 15 minutes to cover all that and get them to the end where everyone meets up.

Julia I personally loved the book, so a movie would be amazing! But also, sometimes the wrong movie company can ruin the book and the movie. So, as long as it is the right company with the right actors than it will be awesome! If not, chances are it will suck. Over all, someone should make it even if it is just a YouTube parody

message 155: by Stanley (new)

Stanley Hansen I think that the whole problem was that they made a standard duration movie from a book requiring the amount of four or more of them. I think that they should redo the movie in a movie trilogy or better yet even a tv series would suffice more than the current movie. On an actual movie stand point it was a very decent movie. But if the movie is based on a book that's in a sequel( knowing that the public will command the other books be made into a movie) that much information left out is completely unacceptable. But they failed at doing what couldnt be done anyway. A book that big with that much detail cannot fit into a movie with a 2 hour or less duration.

Теодора ♊️ I liked the movie and I've watched it so many times I like Jeremy Irons as Brom so I would rally love to see the other books made into movies too bad it won't happen ;(

message 158: by Clara (new) - added it

Clara Jeremy Irons as Brom was the only good thing about the movie, and he dies before the end....The movie severely annoyed me because of all of the inaccuracies.

I vote for forgetting there was a movie that was made to begin with, and hopefully someone will come along and do a decent adaptation

Теодора ♊️ I really doubt there will be another adaptation

message 160: by Terri (new) - rated it 5 stars

Terri Actually the second book is my favorite so I'd love to see it. Someone with CGI experience needs to handle it though.

Salazar Magdalene I know that the movie sucked, but did anyone ever play the video game?

message 162: by Tanner (new) - rated it 4 stars

Tanner NO they already screwed up the first movie there is no sense in screwing up the next book.

message 163: by A (new) - rated it 5 stars

A Eragon the movie should have been done as a LOTR movie-style epic. That is the only way justice will be done to the book.....

message 164: by Brandon (new)

Brandon Powers I REMEMBER READING THESE BOOKS BACK IN MIDDLE SCHOOL FIRST 2 WERE SOME OF THE GREATEST BOOKS I EVER READ I COULD'NT PUT THEM DOWN..THE SECOND 2 WAS KIND OF A LET DOWN IT FELT LIKE CHRISTOPHER WAS'NT AS INTERESTED IN THE STORY ANYMORE..THEY JUST FELT RUSHED AND CRAMMED TOGETHER..SHOULD HAVE BEEN DIVIDED INTO 3 BOOKS EVEN THOUGH INITIALLY THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO BE A TRILOGY..AND THE OUTCOME OF EVERYTHING WAS KIND OF A LET DOWN AFTER SUCH AN EXTRAORDINARY BUILD UP..EVEN SO THE FIRST ERAGON FILM WAS A EVEN BIGGER LET DOWN IT WAS BASICALLY GARBAGE..BUT WITH SUCH A GREAT STORY I DO BELIEVE THEY NEED TO COME OUT WITH THE SECOND FILM..THEY JUST NEED TO TAKE THERE TIME WITH IT..IT NEEDS TO BE A PG-13 MOVIE BASED MORE TO TEENAGERS THEN THE FIRST ONE WHICH FELT LIKE IT WAS MADE FOR 5 YEAR OLD'S..THE SECOND BOOK HAD MORE ACTION IN IT AND I THINK WOULD ADAPT TO FILM BETTER..LET ME KNOW HOW YOU PERSONALLY FEEL ABOUT THIS

Georgia When I complain about book to movie adaptions, the example I use is Eragon. If they were to do it, they would have to redo the first movie.

Bookbadger97 Luke wrote: "I think they should start over and go exactly by the books."

Absolutley. the movie by itself was okay, but if the producers were trying to recreate the book in a film whilst conserving their chances to follow the storyline and create a sequel, they failed dismally. one of their biggest mistakes was killing off the ra'zac, who are essential for the next books.

i agree that they definitley should completley re-do Eragon if they are to comtinue with the series

the only book-to-movie transition that sucked more than eragon was the percy jackson series. the first movie was bad enough, but the second! HORRIBLE!

message 167: by Nils (new) - rated it 5 stars

Nils Friberg i think that they should make the movie elder but with a lot more detail that eragon because if they leave this much detail out in the movies again i think the story line would be confusing.

♔ InfiniteRoyalty ♔ I just finished Inheritance and now onto this hot topic...
A good majority of you are either demanding a retake of the movie...but one person said that they'll have to wait to redo the movie, because it'll receive bad publicity etc. which I tend to agree with...
However I WOULD like to see an Eldest, see if it's any improvement...but they made too much of a mockery of the first book to be able to follow smoothly into the second...

They followed Eragon to the point of Eragon shooting his bow at a deer when Saphira's egg appears in the clearing...after that, it doesn't really follow the book...some scenes maybe, like when Roran leaves, Garrow dies, Brom helps Eragon and Saphira train...but everything in between is bleh...
They got the whole, encasing Brom in stone thing right...but the battle bit was all kinds of terrible...AND THEY SHOWED GALBATORIX!!! Personally, the actor they chose did not cut it in my image of him...

so yeah, I want an Eldest, but not if its following up a disaster...so the only thing to do is wait a few more years before someone steps up and remakes Eragon...

Bookbadger97 wrote: "Luke wrote: ""
the part you said about Percy Jackson...while yes the first movie was terrible, the second was actually more true to the series...not completely right with the whole resurrection of Kronos in rock form, and Percy hearing the prophecy and something about his dad's sword but I don't think you should strike it down so harshly...Just saying ...I'm not judging you on yours or anything...just stating my opinion...

message 169: by Pamela (new)

Pamela I haven't read the book, but I LOVED the movie and YES, I do hope they keep making the other movies. If I do read the books, I know that some of it will be different, but that happens with all movies that are made from books. I have read and reread The Mists of Avalon 8 or more times because it is one of my favorites, but the movie was different and I still liked it a lot. YES, MAKE THE OTHER BOOKS INTO MOVIES ! ! ! !

message 170: by Leahxx (new) - rated it 3 stars

Leahxx No, because the first one sucked. The Inheritance Cycle deserves more then another crappy rendition of the sequel. It's like the Percy Jackson movies, they never should have continued them. Eldest definitely does not need to be made into a movie.

Rebecca Harrington My opinion is very different! I like the first movie, and I believe that avid readers should read the books and not knock the movies made from them. There is not a reasonable way a book can be translated to the screen with every detail of the book included. Movies are movies, books are books. I hope they do the entire series on film, however, I doubt that will happen because the audience is probably not there

Mikayla The movie was an absolute horror. The worst book to movie adaptaion I've ever seen. I would love to see the rest of the series as movies but ONLY if they do it justice.

message 173: by Dakota (last edited Feb 14, 2014 03:19PM) (new)

Dakota I do not think they should because they cut out so much and most of it was changed. I can believe they made Brom set fire to the barn instead of the ra'zaac if I had not read the book I would have thought brom was a cruel man for most of the movie. they changed to many of the good parts such as the traps for the urgals and since when in the book did durza fly in the book. the movie was horrible compared to the book if you ask me sure it takes longer but you can get more detail from it and think of what you think the characters look like and their voices. if they made another movie they would have to introduce orik and some how get arya back to eragon in less before they go to the elf village

Dark_Magican The book was awesome, I know you can't put everything in the movie but I didn't think they went as in depth as they should of. Books are ALWAYS better then the movies.

Michael the movie was awful. I'm pretty sure whoever wrote the screen play didn't even read the book and just happened to get lucky on a few of the names that were selected.

message 176: by Konstantinos (new)

Konstantinos Prouskas ofcourse , this movie is like a drug I NEED THE CONTINUE !! plz releas eldest even without being that close to the book i just wanna see what will happen at them .Moreover they cant just end like that the movie they own the "tomorrow" to us !

message 177: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Gibson In my opinion they could either redo the movie to book standards or continue the movie series. But in reality the movie actually lead me to the book but I rewatched it and i just wanna see it succeed because i loved the book. Its actually sad that some people cant overlook differences tho and i agree with some of the arguments people make but book to movie translation is never 100%.

message 178: by Breana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Breana Definitely no. The movie itself was hardly remarkable. Don't see how anyone could build anything worth watching and rewatching off of the Eragon movie.

message 179: by Breana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Breana David wrote: "I'm not sure if a remake is even possible. A movie must appeal to a broader audience to make a lot of money. The Eragon movie was a disaster critically and financially. Critics, who have probably ..."

Yeah, I think they would really need to reinterpret the books for the screen and do things that couldn't be done in a book but are awesome on screen, while also stressing the series' unique points.

message 180: by Tim (new) - rated it 3 stars

Tim Stead The book was average. The movie was a mockery of the book. LoTR and Game of Thrones show what can be done with fantasy - I think a ten year gap and a remake would be wise, and a director who actually GETS what makes fantasy special. I really wanted Eragon to be special, but both media failed.

When will the movie folk actually learn to pick the winners?

Jo Jamila wrote: "The first Eragon movie was pretty good compared to the book, they cut it down and shortened it to get straight to the point - albeit cutting out half of the good scenes, such as Eragon actually get..."

I enjoyed the movie moreso than the books -- so yeah. I really enjoyed it andd the Percy Jackson films.

Isn't Guillermo del Toro a really violent guy? I would prefer Peter Jackson

message 183: by Breana (new) - rated it 5 stars

Breana I wonder what Peter Jackson would do with the series.

message 184: by KK (new) - rated it 5 stars

KK I think they should make Eldest a movie, and continue on with the series. :)

Cynthia Oh god please no.. First they need to re-make the first movie cause that one sucked. They changed the whole thing and now they can't even make a second one cause they screwed it up. So, they need to re-make it and then they can continue the series. It needs a new cast as well ... Except for Brom, he was perfect!

Shannon Yes l believe Eragon should be a longer series it was so good

message 188: by Cheryl (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cheryl Matthynssens I agree with many others. Remake the first movie and then do them all.

message 189: by Maddie (new) - rated it 4 stars

Maddie I really loved these books and was very excited for a movie to come out, but then I saw it and it was terrible. I think that the filmmakers took too many liberties with the story. They also didn't have permission from the author to make the movie. So I am all for a restart of the series, but get the authors permision first.

message 190: by Ariana (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ariana I haven't seen the movie, but I enjoyed the book.

message 191: by David (last edited Jul 11, 2014 05:02PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

David Foster I'd say leave the movies out of my imagination.

The books were too rich and vast to fit into a movie. No matter how hard they try The Beor Mountains or Du Weldenvarden into the movie it won't reach our expectations.

The idea us good but the practice will always leave us wanting more.

message 192: by David (new) - rated it 5 stars

David Foster I agree with you on that Audrey

message 193: by Tony (new) - rated it 5 stars

Tony Smith I would love to see the rest of the series made into movies.

Michael Blea oh yes. The First movie was great they should of went on instead of stopping the information dead on. I loved that movie. Eragon was an intense and beautiful movie and they should of went on with it.

message 195: by Tuyên (new) - rated it 5 stars

Văn Tuyên I dont believe they should make Eldest a movie because Eragon totally is bad movie !!

message 196: by Ariana (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ariana They should make a new Eragon movie that is much better and continue the series.

Julie Lapp (bogfeber) I reaaaaaally loved the books, but the movie??? Wtf, it was so bad :-/

message 198: by Paulina (last edited Aug 02, 2014 03:24PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Paulina Movie was kind of shit. That Saphira...That Arya...Ok, I won't say anything. And story. Many different things. Book is better as almost always. I don't think they should do other parts of series, they probably won't do it better and Eldest is actually book which has so many events. There's no chance they would show all of them, so they'll cut much of them - result will be - another bad movie. And cast. Uhm. Maybe this movie has some good parts, but comparing to the book (another person who say like that xD), it's weak.

message 199: by [deleted user] (new)

In fact, the movie is pretty good... if you didn't read the book! Because it kind of gives you a short version of the story. But I didn't really enjoy it 'cause I was always comparing it to the book. And Arya, Saphira and Galbatorix did totally not look like I imagined they would.

Crystal Taylor I would love to see the rest of the books made into movies. :) I love the books, and I love the movie. I wish they would finish the series. :D
