That way the slower (though vital) parts of the story could be covered, other characters given their due, and something epic truly developed, rather than the rushed action/fantasy B-film that was Eragon.
So much of Eldest is not focused on Eragon, you know that would not make it into a 2-hour film. The whole Roran/Carvahall storyline is much better to structure over a multi-episode arc. In a movie adaptation you'd be lucky if it got 15 minutes to cover all that and get them to the end where everyone meets up.

very ture

I vote for forgetting there was a movie that was made to begin with, and hopefully someone will come along and do a decent adaptation

Absolutley. the movie by itself was okay, but if the producers were trying to recreate the book in a film whilst conserving their chances to follow the storyline and create a sequel, they failed dismally. one of their biggest mistakes was killing off the ra'zac, who are essential for the next books.
i agree that they definitley should completley re-do Eragon if they are to comtinue with the series
the only book-to-movie transition that sucked more than eragon was the percy jackson series. the first movie was bad enough, but the second! HORRIBLE!

A good majority of you are either demanding a retake of the movie...but one person said that they'll have to wait to redo the movie, because it'll receive bad publicity etc. which I tend to agree with...
However I WOULD like to see an Eldest, see if it's any improvement...but they made too much of a mockery of the first book to be able to follow smoothly into the second...
They followed Eragon to the point of Eragon shooting his bow at a deer when Saphira's egg appears in the clearing...after that, it doesn't really follow the book...some scenes maybe, like when Roran leaves, Garrow dies, Brom helps Eragon and Saphira train...but everything in between is bleh...
They got the whole, encasing Brom in stone thing right...but the battle bit was all kinds of terrible...AND THEY SHOWED GALBATORIX!!! Personally, the actor they chose did not cut it in my image of him...
so yeah, I want an Eldest, but not if its following up a disaster...so the only thing to do is wait a few more years before someone steps up and remakes Eragon...

the part you said about Percy Jackson...while yes the first movie was terrible, the second was actually more true to the series...not completely right with the whole resurrection of Kronos in rock form, and Percy hearing the prophecy and something about his dad's sword but I don't think you should strike it down so harshly...Just saying ...I'm not judging you on yours or anything...just stating my opinion...

Yeah, I think they would really need to reinterpret the books for the screen and do things that couldn't be done in a book but are awesome on screen, while also stressing the series' unique points.

When will the movie folk actually learn to pick the winners?

I enjoyed the movie moreso than the books -- so yeah. I really enjoyed it andd the Percy Jackson films.

Isn't Guillermo del Toro a really violent guy? I would prefer Peter Jackson

The books were too rich and vast to fit into a movie. No matter how hard they try The Beor Mountains or Du Weldenvarden into the movie it won't reach our expectations.
The idea us good but the practice will always leave us wanting more.

In fact, the movie is pretty good... if you didn't read the book! Because it kind of gives you a short version of the story. But I didn't really enjoy it 'cause I was always comparing it to the book. And Arya, Saphira and Galbatorix did totally not look like I imagined they would.
