Eragon
discussion
Do u believe they should make Eldest a movie and continue on the series?
I didn't like the first movie actually. I would re-do it if I could and make it more like the movie "The Castle of Caligstro". The movie seemed very choppy, and now that the rest of the books are out, if they made a new version, all the right foreshadowings could be there. For instance, Angela wasn't too important in the 1st movie, but in the later books, she's very prominent. I would not reccomend finishing the movies, because I feel like [currently] there wouldn't be enough of a draw to get non-fans to watch.

I never thought of them re-doing the first movie again :/ It would be better.
They should do a different director, and hopefully a new tech guy for Saphira, make her wings better :P

The movie could have been a better adaptation of the book. They could re-try making it, but only if they intend to make movies of the complete series since we cannot have a good second movie without a clear plot & characters of the first movie.
Personally, I feel the movie Eragon could have been way more and way better. Hopefully, there will be justice done to it soon.

I agree thoroughly - if they can fix the mistakes then yes, make a second. maybe they can somehow work in all the mistakes from the first one and fix them

I agree

And even if they rebooted the first as they'd need to, it had so little interest that this one wouldn't do much better aside from the benifit of having the last book in the series just out. In fact, right now is the ONLY time they can get away with it unless they wait another decade or so.
They could just come out and say "the movie the way it was meant to be before is finally here!"

Now, if they remade the movie better, then maybe.

A remake of Eragon closer to the book I think would still fail. Even by some miracle, The following books would be a nightmare to make a movie out of. An Eldest and Brisignr movie would vital have nothing of interest happening. This would bore an audience and I guarantee it wouldn't' draw in enough people.

Sorry about the rant and long post.

Well when I was saying that the point I was making was how this would never happen, the reaction to the first Eragon movie was so dismal that the guy who played Eragon works construction on and off now, the Director hasn't directed a thing since and NO ONE will fund a sequel.
With the 4th book JUST out and popularity of book-movies and the series itself at its peak some studio somewhere MIGHT greenlight a reboot with the proper pitch thrown at them but that's really unlikely as well.
Of course we all know movies have to drop things from the books but the point is this movie actually crippled the series by ruining vital info and characters. The writers would have a lot on their hands to salvage.

I just worry about how many people must have seen the movie and thought, nah I won't bother reading those books because they're really missing out.

I would like a second movie if the first one was good enough. It is not. Don't get me wrong, I read all the books and I love them (except when Paolini killed one of my favourite characters, and at the end of Inheritance), but the movie is just a bad collage of pieces of the book.

Deviating from the book to make a better movie is fine but what they did to Eragon was a flat-out disgrace, and sadly it crushed any chance we had of seeing the rest of the series on the big screen.

I think it failed because it didn't stay respectful of the source material. Once you do that you lose the fan base that's rabid for it in the first place.

To sum it up.
No Elves.
Eragon doesn't get horribly hurt in the back.
No Katrina.
No Twins.
No ELVA.
No Werecat.
Oh and Arya looks nothing like shes supposed to.
Seriously Fox should be ashamed and whoever wrote the screen play. This was clearly only made for the money. But they would have made alot more if they'd done things right.
Remake.

Yep. They may have used the same character names, but...that's kind of where the similarities stopped.
I think Saphira was the only thing they did a marginally acceptable job on (character-wise, not just graphics). Something I attribute to Rachel Weisz.

Thanks & agreed. :) Also I appoligize for the rant.
