Eragon

Do u believe they should make Eldest a movie and continue on the series?

They got EVERYTHING wrong in the 1st movie. And besides, in the movie they killed the Rzoc, the last two alive. So no, a second movie is a bad idea.

Agreed the only way a second movie could be justified is to entirely redo the first movie and keep it to the books story... truthfully it shouldn't have been hard to do correctly the first time if they had tried. Bad Director.

I have known people who were not fans of the series who watched the movie tell me it sucked. As a fan of the series, I thought it was an abomination! They had so many holes in the story, as well as missing characters...I was so disappointed. They also failed to show the passing of time, at all. In one shot Eragon has no idea what he's doing with his magic, then boom, he's a master magician?! Saphira just hatched, then in a storm she's huge?! The whole point of the first book, the discovery of each other and what they can do, is entirely missed.

If they had even tried to do the movie as well as others have done movies like lord of the rings, harry potter, or even the Narnia movies then most people who had read the book would have accepted it, however this is not quite comparable I'm afraid since they didn't even try to keep to the book...

meh, would anybody actually WATCH it though?

I would probably watch it eventually but I wouldn't want to pay $10 for it

Definitely agreed. Eragon could make for a really good movie if done correctly and the rest of the series would be just as good.

Uh no way!!! The first movie was so terrible I wanted to call the director and yell at him. The books were so good, they cut out too much stuff and didn't capture any of the magic that was so beautiful in the books. I think that we should let the series rest in peace.

You probably wouldn't have a hard time getting ahold of him, he's the special effects supervisor of some big stuff like Game of Thrones but nothing more high-profile than that.
Eragon remains, to this day, the only movie he's ever directed.

Because I think, just because few of the fellas out there are unreasonably critical of the movie, I am missing out on further movies!!!!
Hope no one feels bad about it, if they do, I am sorry but this is what I think!!!

WHERE WAS ELVA? She should have been blessed!

Being a purist is when a Harry Potter fan gets bent out of shape about the uniforms being a different colour or the hair being the wrong length. Being a purist with Eragon would be all the people complaining about him being blonde or saying Brom wasn't old looking enough.
I don't it's being a purist to ask a movie not to burn the bridges of about three important plot lines that take you through the rest of the series. Frankly, I don't really know what direction they could take in continuing the series because the first movie simply cannot connect to the following novels.
Now, I am quite critical of how poorly the movie itself was made, removing it entirely from its role as an adaptation I thought it was badly written, directed and acted. It meets all my criteria for simply not being a very good movie but so do lots of movies that I willingly watch like Season of the Witch and Pathfinder. But this criticism doesn't come from a foundation of purism with regards to the source material.

She didn't say Katrina was captured! Katrina wasn't even in the movie! And I didn't like how they killed both Ra'zac-that wasn't meant to happen till Brisingr-and had Arya flouncing around a forest saying she was a princess of the elves and yadda yaddda yoo.

Arya was a wimpy girly fashionista in the bmovie. In the books she's a beautiful yet tough and brave princess-ambassador ready to save her community. I wonder if Sienna Guilloroy has ever commited murder, 'cause she definitely murdered the character of Arya!

The books were not stupid. I don't know where you've been, but Paolini created a masterpiece worth a thousand lifetimes, and I wish that everyone could appreciate it. The books don't only talk about Eragon, you know. They also show how Paolini himself grew up, from the writing in Eragon to Inheritance.
If you are going to talk about something that strongly, you should be educated enough to realize that what he did by writing and publishing his work was hard and courageous. It is definitely more than what most of us could ever do.

it was my opinion ok i didnt say other people shoudlnt read it i just said i didnt like it if other people wants to read it then good for them, ok so chill

Yeah, but this is the book. The book was soooooo much better. They shouldn't even be compared. If you don't compare it, the movie wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't the best movie out there
