I am a fantasy author who lives in New Zealand within sight of the magnificent Southern Alps and surrounded by sheep, mountains and badly behaved rivers.

I was born in the UK, but have lived in Hong Kong, the UK and now New Zealand. I am very familiar with the Richter Scale.

I love writing, I love people reading what I write, and I love the fact that people will pay money to read it. In our materialistic world I set my prices as low as I can and hope it's low enough. I especially love it when readers get in touch, rate or review one of my books.(less)

Hi Michael,

No, the worlds of Derakwa, Shanakan and Wolf Narak are quite seperate. The stories of Derakwa and Wolf Narak stand alone as they are, although there are several possibilities for further novels in each, though they are just concepts at the moment. I was thinking of writing Narak's autobiography, and perhaps the story of what happened to Jerac Fane while he was in the Seth Yarra motherland.

Derakwa could be extended with the conclusion of Red Fox Kang's story and perhaps the general's widow's further attempts to be avenged on the Fish King. I'm thinking about all three.

Shanakan will probably be completed in 2024, as I am nearing the end of the ninth book, and I think the tenth will be the last.

After that, who knows?

cheers

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

A brief review. Sanderson’s first book and a good one. This is more or less what epic fantasy should be. It’s original, the characters are watchable, and the plot is good. I read this with more pleasure that some of his later work, but I have one small reservation. The number of unlikely escapes in the climax, the dei ex machina if you will, began to wear out my suspension of disbelief.
