Alphabet Yearly Challenge
Very cool challenge :) I would need a year to do each. I don't get through 52 audio books in one year.
Yeah, me too. I saw the challenge on another board & liked the idea but after I posted it I realized I couldn't do that many in one year. That's why I went back and added the 2 year bit. I might be able to handle that. This one would actually be a lot easier physically reading but I thought I'd challenge myself with the audio.
Definitely more of a challenge doing it via audio. I would cheat and go back and try and use some of the audio's I have already listened to this year. I don't think I could get 26 more books done between now and December 31st.

I've just realized this is gonna be really tough to do. I was looking thru the audiobooks I have bought already and I have at least 4 that start with letters I've already used. I really want to listen to them too but if I do then there's no way I will be able to get them & 20 more done before the end of the year. Oh well, maybe I'll just see how many I can actually get done of this challenge.
I found the same thing Nikki. This is truly going to be a challenge and will definitely affect what I choose to listen to. :) Which is not a bad thing all things considered, but not sure if I will be able to do it in one year. I am going to give it my all though.
Wahoo, I am cooking with gas on this one. I have gotten lucky that so far I haven't repeated too many letters so I have crossed several off. :)
Way to Go Jennifer!! I had forgotten to update my list so I got to cross off 2 more books on mine as well. Unfortunately I've listened to 2 recently that repeat with letters I've already done. I think I'm gonna listen to The Rose Garden next though so that should be a new letter for me :D
Awesome ;) can't wait to hear what you think about it. I definitely enjoyed it.I have definitely gotten lucky that I haven't repeated too many letters yet. lol. :)
Ive been getting lucky, so far I haven't had too many repeat letters so I have been able to accomplish a decent amount on this challenge. Still a long way to go though...
Okay, I'm not totally committing to 26 because I only listen to audiobooks when I'm at the gym or doing some other task. Also it's July. But hey, I want to see how it goes anyway. A -

Cheers!
Gone girl was really awesome audio. Graveminder was great.
Miss Peregrin's School for Peculiar Children was interesting.
Woman in black, macabre.
Iron King (series: Iron Fae) was not as good as Wicked Lovely. That whole series by Melissa Marr is phenomenal!
The Soul Screamer series is fresh! Another book is getting to come out. (I love this series so much, I'll be getting the paper, large print version from the library!)
Not sure I'll be able to do the challenge but it a great idea, and a great way to get book ideas.
Not sure if I can do this in a year but hey sounds fun to try, thanks!
Kristie, if you want to do this challenge you can start anytime you want. We started at the beginning of the year but you could do Aug. 1, 2012 - July 31, 2013 if you want.
I just finished my 12th book. I'm gonna have to look through the audiobooks I have on hand to see what else I can use that won't be a repeat letter.
This sounds fun. I'll start my year out today since it's the first of the month. I've got four checked out from the library and lucky me, they all have a different first letter. Is this list only for audiobooks, or can I also include books I read? I average about 8 audios and 1 book a month.
I know i can do this. Since i drive a 18 wheeler as my job. I listen to 5 to 7 books a week. I just love them. They get me down the road, they keep me awake.

We are only doing audiobooks for this one. I am a member of another group where I do this with my regular books. It would be a lot easier if we combined them but since this is an audiobook group I figured we would leave it audiobooks only :)
First book yayyyy

Lynne: Ah. I love Interview with a Vampire and the Vampire Lestat. Are you reading these for the first time? Also - Hah. I think I only have books that overlap with letters. Sigh
Ok...here's a thought. How about if I change this challenge a bit. Let's combine Titles & Authors for the entire year. I have the same problem as Poonam...too many overlapping Title letters. If we combine them, we can use the first letter of the Title or the first letter of the author's name (First or last). Does this sound like a better idea? If so, I'll change it. Let me know what you think :)
Hi Nikki and Poonam! I was already in an audio blog challenge, so when I found this group, I was so excited! I'm having the overlap problem too. In another group I'm in that has several yearly challenges, we decided to work it out the best way we can with the letter issue, b/c nobody was filling in anything. (ex. "A" and "The" don't have to count. X, Y, and Z are worked out as long as a word in the title starts with that letter). Let me know if something I did isn't okay.
You did fine Lynne. I agree with the "A" and "The" as well as the X, Y, Z issue. I just don't get through as many audiobooks in a year as some and I have kinda the same issue Poonam was talking about. I have a lot of books that I'm reading that start with the same letter (didn't realize how many titles start with the letter 'S' and 'W'!! LOL.
Haha. I suppose that would work. But would we still do 26 titles. Also I don't know if it's fair for everyone?
I would still do 26 titles, yes. As for it being fair? I'm not seeing why it wouldn't be but if you think it might be unfair we can just keep it the way it is. No big deal. I was just trying to make it a little more feasible for everyone. I'm still going to try my best if it stays the way it is. I'm just pretty sure I won't finish it, but I will do the best I can.
I doubt I will be able to finish it with just titles too, although I have been somewhat lucky by not having too many overlapping letters.I am going to try and stick to just titles, lol, because if I add authors I still wont be able to get all 26. lol, this way I can blame it on overlapping letters. ;)
I guess about being unfair, I just meant for people who might be already well on their way. I don't know...I'm cool with changing it, if people want to

Nikki, I am curious what group you are in that has the alphabet challenge for print books. I started checking and without even knowing about a challenge I already have a book, read this year in either print or audio (I count them the same as books read) for 21 letters including Q, so now I want to finish the alphabet!

Also, you can't use the same book on both lists. You can use the same author on either list, but there's no doubling up on one books. This gives you room for more! :)
**If this is too much for everyone, we will extend it to 2 years. The first year for the title round, second year for the author.
Also, books beginning with an article...A, An, or The...use the next word in the title as the letter (eg. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo would work for the letter G.)
