STILL working on Stormed Fortress.
If I had one superpower, it would be the ability to stop time so I could catch up on my sleep and my reading...

I'm still nibbling away at The Scar, which I've been reading in tandem with a couple of other things. I expect to finish it in a few days and finally peak into, er, March's discussion. The rest of my April intentions:
Shel wrote: "Oooooh I loved Wild Seed. You're in for a treat!"If it's even half as good as her Dawn, I'm sure I'll love it.
I'm also reading more Butler. I've started Lilith's Brood. I'm halfway through The Mote in God's Eye on audio book, it's not bad, but the stereotypes between the male and female characters are a bit dated. Once I'm done that audio book, I have The Ship Who Sang lined up next. Then I'll probably read Jack of Shadows for next months book club.
Hopefully I'll finish The Maltese Falcon today. I'm still working my way through 1Q84 and Warbreaker. I really like them both but I've been focusing on other books. I need to step up my game, I have a lot of books I want to read this month.
I recently started the Horus Heresy. I'm on book two: False Gods atm. Also working on several others at the same time, but FG is getting most of my attention.
I'm in Worlds of Honor for now. I'm debating what to read next. I pulled a Greg Iles' intrigue stand-alone off the shelf, and another group is starting the Wheel of Time as a group series read (and since I've not read those books, I thought a group read might be a good way to do it). And Ashes of Victory for the April Honor read in this group.
Finished with Through Stone and Sea. This one was better than the previous book, the last 3rd of the book was pretty good. The First two thirds wasn't that enjoyable.Started on Robert J. Sawyers new book
Triggers
Kathi wrote: "group is starting the Wheel of Time as a group se..."I enjoyed The Wheel of Time Series. When I thought the series was coming to a close 10 years ago I went through a reread and while the first couple of books read like your standard fantasy fare the books, for me, change and get more interesting beginning with the third book.
I was planning a reread before the final book comes out next January but I dont think I am going to bother with another reread right now
No funds for buying books this month, so got to stick what I already have or the library has...sadly none of the upcoming reads on BR :-(Currently reading Neil Gaiman's The Graveyard Book which is fun! Also started on Daughter of the Forest which is promising.
Not sure what I will read next...
I'm reading Mistborn: The Final Empire which I'm enjoying. Then I plan to read Golden Fool, The Lions of Al-Rassan, The Eye of the World and Graceling.
Finished up Triggers, pretty good.Started in on Tales to Astonish: Jack Kirby, Stan Lee, and the American Comic Book Revolution
I finished Elantris which I thoroughly enjoyed; some criticized it for being soewhat predictable, but I felt the journey was great. Now I'm reading Saltation (Theo Waitley, #2)
I was inspired by the selection of Jhereg to read the entire series. I read Taltos last week and now I am going to read Yendi.

I need to get back to that series, too, which I started when we read Jhereg with the group. I've read the first 3 but the 4th is still sitting on my shelf.
I finished the 2nd books of Honor stories that was a "side read" with our group read of the Honor Harrington series, and now I'm starting April's book, Ashes of Victory.
Also trying to start the Wheel of Time series to read along with another group, but I think they are finishing up the first book, which I have yet to start. I've never read that series.

I enjoyed Golden Fool so much, I've gone straight onto Fool's Fate. Lions is next. Then I still need to fit in Graceling and Wheel of Time #1. So many books so little time - due to work, family, friends, tv...
I just finished The Joy Luck Club, Foundation's Edge and Foundation and Earth. Now reaing Winter's Tale.

Kathi I'm reading The Eye of the World with that group too. You should still join, there are others who started later too. Right now we're scheduled to be about halfway through the first book. You can always catch up and even if you don't there'll still be people taking part in previous discussions.
I'm also reading The Rook on my Kindle and Ender's Game on audio.
Jenny wrote: "Kathi I'm reading The Eye of the World (Wheel of Time, #1) with that group too. You should still join, there are others who started later too. "
I plan to, Jenny. I couldn't keep up when this group was reading Janny Wurts' Wars of Light and Shadow series, but I still read the discussions as I went along, and commented, too.

I'll see you on the boards then!
I finished World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War byMax Brooks which was a different take on the zombie genre, I went back to the classics and read Tower of Glass byRobert Silverberg and it featured Silverberg's usual examination of the human condition in a sci fi setting. I am currently really enjoying In Conquest Born by C.S. Friedman, after reading two of her books I find myself wanting to read them all.
I just read Genesis by Bernard Beckett, which I looked for in the YA section of my library, only to find they had it shelved in the "grown-up" sci-fi section. After I read it, I think I agree with their assessment. It's a short novel about a teenager in a dystopian world, but the last half of it is a philosophical treatise on the essence of being. Reminded me of Philip K Dick in that way. Really good stuff, though. New Zealand writer.
Spring break week, and I just got back from 5 days in Arizona visiting with family - managed a lot of reading time with 6 other people around to be able to take turns with the baby! I finished my The Lions of Al-Rassan re-read, and am most of the way through re-reading Naamah's Kiss to refresh my memory before tackling Naamah's Curse.
Finished up with Tales to Astonish, a history of Marvel Comics through Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Not half bad.Was cleaning out some boxes of books laying around and came across The Horseclans series. Figured I would do a reread this summer.
So I am reading
The Coming of the Horseclans
I've finished Saltation (Theo Waitley, #2) and am definitely hooked on this series, even though I seem to have started it at the end rather than the beginning. My only negative is that this book does not really end as did the first Theo Waitley book but obviously continues in another book (on order from the library). I've moved on to Lone Wolf
I finished Ashes of Victory and am getting ready to start The Eye of the World. I'm going on vacation soon and will be taking that and the omnibus that has the next 3 Vlad Taltos books in in. I don't expect to have much time to read--this is an active trip--but we'll see.
Edited to note that The Book of Taltos contains the next 2, not 3, Vald Taltos stories.

I zipped through Naamah's Curse - didn't like it as much as Carey's previous books set in that world, but still enjoyed myself immensely. The third book in the trilogy comes out in paperback in a few days - trying to decide whether I'm going to allow myself to buy it - we've been really cutting down on our book-buying budget these days.
Next I'm picking up Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, which I've been meaning to read for ages.

Laurel wrote: "I just bought
at a charity book sale yesterday. I've always meant to read it!"The doomsday book is excellent, I have bought the book twice the first cover looked very much like a Harlequin romance, which is odd considering the subject matter, the second book had a more pertinent cover appropriate for my collection.
Finished up Coming of the HorseclansNot as good as it was when I read it as a teenager
Started on Uther
This is a companion book to Jack Whyte's other book The Eagles' Brood.
really enjoying vance's Tales of the Dying Earth: Including 'The Dying Earth,' 'The Eyes of the Overworld,' 'Cugel's Saga,' and 'Rhialto the Marvellous' and thinking about some geoff ryman (specifically The Child Garden) and/or alice munro short stories. it all depends on the mood. ;)

I love that book! The way the group mind was presented was so fascinating to me. If you like it, you should read the prequel set in the same universe, A Deepness in the Sky. It's very different, and only tangentially connected, but SO good!
