Regina (reginar) DG I wish you the best in your search. The market is bad for lawyers, I am not sure how it is in your field.

How are you liking Shoot to Thrill?

Rachel the Book Harlot I'm currently reading Seducing Cinderella (Fighting for Love, #1) by Gina L. Maxwell . It's a light, cute, erotic romance. Nothing life altering and kind of predictable but it's fun and good for what it is. The H is a sexy MMA fighter, which is right up my alley. Love a sexy alpha with tats.

You know how much I like that series (and Gino) so I'm enjoying a lot. But I have a feeling things will end up bad, bad!

Thanks for the good wishes. My problem is that I don't have much digital experience which is what most people are looking for in Marketing these days. If I don't find anything in 6 months, then I'll think I'll have to consider a pay cut just to get the experience.

I was going to reply "it's not how you start but how you finish" but then decided to be nice, LOL!

Regina (reginar) Always the better move. :) I guess I am just carrying baggage from certain posts in the last round. I just need to let it go! *smirk* blah. LOL.

message 4907: by D.G. (new)

D.G. Oh which posts were those? Then ones where "people" *smirk* were complaining about when the shelf was going to be called?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) About Lacey Alexander...I've read 3? of hers now. They're okay, mostly straight smut with little to no plot. Not all that different from a Selena Kitt but I like Kitt better.

I had some friends who really liked that one. Just haven't had a chance to read it yet.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Sigh, I hate the fact that Flat Out Love leaves a bad taste in my mouth, because I loved it so much! SO much. I want to tell you to read that, but I hate saying that now after all the gobbldygook from author/reader problems.

Courtney | 337 comments Thanks for the recommendations, ladies!!!

Still plowing through Queen of Shadows (Shadow World, #1) by Dianne Sylvan . I feel the writing is amateur and the book is predictable.

Rachel the Book Harlot Stacia ~ mistress of mediocrity wrote: " I had some friends who really liked that one. Just haven't had a chance to read it yet."

It's cute, Stacia. :) It kind of reads like a movie - it kind of has the same tone as movies like Never Been Kissed or She's All That. That kind of fairy tale feeling. Well, you know, except with lots more sex. haha

message 4919: by Aoibhínn (new)

Aoibhínn (aoibhinn) I finished reading The Future of Us by Jay Asher by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler earlier today. It's just an young adult romance but it's very entertaining and funny. I loved all the 1990's nostalgia!

Next I'm going to start reading a Stephanie Plum book: Ten Big Ones (Stephanie Plum, #10) by Janet Evanovich by Janet Evanovich.

Leea Ursula, How was The Heir?

Dinner in Napa was fabulous!! One of the best steaks i've had and before we had kids, we used to eat at some amazing restaurants. I was the only women in a sea of business men and honestly I loved the attention. Haha!

I got to sleep in this morning and order room service. I made the mistake of ordering a Caraffe of coffee for $8 - Yikes. So I had like 5 cups of coffee this morning before I had to meet my husband after they all played golf.

I keep debating if I want to read it or not. I probably should just bite the bullet and do it. I liked
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline quite a bit and the technology and 80's/90's nostalgia added a charm to that book.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Ursula wrote: "I have read Romancing Mister Bridgerton (Bridgertons, #4) by Julia Quinn and The Heir (Reid Family, #1) by Johanna Lindsey Now I'm reading When He Was Wicked (Bridgertons, #6) by Julia Quinn"

I still need to get back to Bridgertons. Sigh. Gotta find time to fit it in.

Finished The Mighty Storm by Samantha Towle and it was a nice read in parts (Jake was definitely sexy) but reminded me a lot of Thoughtless, so I had a like/dislike with it.

Courtney | 337 comments Wow finally finished Queen of Shadows (Shadow World, #1) by Dianne Sylvan . It had so much potential but unfortunately it was cheesy and predictable. The writing was amateur at best. For the first time in my life, I rolled my eyes when I finished the book. Yikes!

Courtney | 337 comments D.G. - Haha!!!! Well, I think it's the first time. At least...it's the first time that I noticed myself rolling my eyes. Now that I read the spoilers for the next book, I'm for SURE not continuing the series. Didn't even have the littlest urge to continue anyway before I read what happens next.

message 4928: by Dnelson (new)

Dnelson | 11 comments For all of you Kristen Ashley fans, I read Mystery Man, and heard some not so great things about Law Man and Wild Man, but good things about Motorcycle Man. Question is, is it okay to skip to Motorcycle Man? I usually NEVER read books out of order, but I don't have as much time to read nowadays, so I am picky :)
What do you think?!

message 4929: by Annette (new)

Annette I read Motorcycle Man 3/4 of the way and stopped. I didn't find the characters sexy or interesting. The hero was a bit of a knuckle dragger. I found myself not interested in finding out what happens in the end.

message 4930: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Sep 22, 2012 01:00AM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I actually quit responding to KA comments because it was starting to sound like I was a whiny broken record, so I'm only replying because of the question of jumping from book 1 to book 4 because this is what I did.

I actually read Mystery Man then immediately skipped to Motorcycle Man because the group I was reading it with opted to jump ahead (no clue why).

It really depends on how much you liked Mystery Man? I thought Motorcycle Man was better than Mystery Man but I wasn't a huge fan of either (although there were a few good parts). The books are just far too long and repeat themselves too much for my taste (both of the books had a kidnapping plot device...because that's common, LMAO). BUT...if you enjoyed Mystery Man, then I'd say to go for it because Motorcycle Man was a step up imo and you'll probably like it! Lots of people count Motorcycle Man as one of their favorites, so if you like this author's style, that's one you probably won't want to miss.

I usually love alphas, and sometimes alph-holes if done well (with maybe a good grovel later), but I couldn't deal with Tack. He hit all of my personal triggers so his behavior pulled me right out of the story.

Anyhoo, currently reading an HR, Lord of Dishonor by Edith Layton by Edith Layton.

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Struck (Struck, #1) by Jennifer Bosworth and it was pretty good. Now, I'm reading Frisky Business by Clodagh Murphy .

Regina (reginar) Courtney wrote: "I'm starting Mona Lisa Awakening (Monère Children of the Moon, #1) by Sunny. Hope it goes well."

Courtney, have you read Anita Blake or the Black Jewels trilogy before? Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #1) by Laurell K. Hamilton Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop I ask, because if you haven't read those you will probably enjoy Mona Lisa. It is well written and hot, but it is a complete rip on those two series. So I couldn't enjoy the book as I had read the other series. :) It frustrated me because I do like how the author wrote Mona Lisa.

Regina (reginar) Annette wrote: "I read Motorcycle Man 3/4 of the way and stopped. I didn't find the characters sexy or interesting. The hero was a bit of a knuckle dragger. I found myself not interested in finding out what happe..."

It seems people run hot or cold for KA's books. I run cold for the reasons you said but I like her style of writing but I had to put Colorado Man down as the hero drove me crazy. However, I liked how she wrote. Which is funny -- because I think how she writes drives some people crazy? And then others love both the men and the writing style. :) Its good we have so many reading choices, lol!

message 4936: by Annette (new)

Annette I thought Motorcycle Man was going to be sexier than it was. I would have finished it if it was more sensual. Supposedly he rock her world, but I didn't understand why.

Lucky for all of us there are plenty of books out there to please us all.

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Don't have any romance to read right now but just finished The Vault by Ruth Rendell and really enjoyed it.

message 4940: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Regina - Actually, I did read the first book of the Black Jewels trilogy and I can totally see the similarities in Mona Lisa Awakening. Unfortunately, I'm not into more than one hero. It puts me off :(

message 4941: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) That is frustrating about how similar isn't it? If you had read Anita Blake you would see it was a complete mesh of the two.

I can do the multiple partner storyline lol but it has to be really well developed fore to buy into it.

message 4942: by Courtney (last edited Sep 22, 2012 02:06PM) (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Regina - Yeah, it is! I dislike it when I see such huge similarities between books.

And I try to stay away from the "more than one hero" book because I tend to develop a liking for one hero more than the other and if the heroine chooses the one I don't like...well it's the end of the world for me! Haha, not really, but I just hate when that happens! I really dislike love triangles, quadrangles, and what have you. Something similar happened in Moon Called where I (view spoiler)

message 4943: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I remember that Courtney, I remember discussing it with you. :) That is a series you should continue to read. :p It is too bad you were spoiled because it is sort of best to learn that as the series progresses in the context of how Briggs wrote it. It was truly a good decision for the guy you were sad for as you will learn if you keep reading that series *push push*. :)

message 4944: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm about 80% done with Hidden Summit (Virgin River, #17) by Robyn Carr and I have to say it's not that good. I just don't feel the connection between Leslie and Conner. Honestly, parts are repeating and it's bothering me. I love this series, Regina tell me the next few get better?

message 4945: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) 17, hmmm I liked parts of it -- I enjoyed the dialogue between the two main characters, but it wasn't an easy home run type read. 18 is even less enjoyable or was from my opinion. 19 is a knock it out of the park type book again and so is 20. So I say, finish 17 and skip over 18. 18 has no effect on the series but just closes off a storyline.

message 4946: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) She repeated a lot of parts in 17 and 18 -- they were super repetitive. 18 was even confusing inn the beginning as to who was the hero!

message 4947: by Leea (new)

Leea Thanks Regina! I'm skipping to 19 after a buddy read on Monday. Then I get to read 20 and i'll finally be all caught up on this series until she releases another book. Haha!

message 4948: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Regina - I think I saw somewhere why she ends up with who she did and not with the one I wanted but I don't think that was my only problem with the series. Mercy definitely isn't my favorite heroine and I'm not drawn to read more about her. So I guess that's another problem :/ But thanks for pushing! And I understand why I should keep reading to see the development of their relationship. I guess I just don't want to see that relationship happen! xD

I really liked The Perfect Play. It was way hot. The other two in the series were a lot better. I was pleasantly surprised with the series. It doesn't hurt that those are the best book covers I have ever seen.
