Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Will you be able to read Rock Chick even though you are going out of town?

message 4452: by Leea (last edited Aug 26, 2012 10:43PM) (new)

Leea Yeah, I have tomorrow and a 6 hr car ride both ways. haha! I also never travel without my laptop or iphone so i'll be checking my emails :) up to you, if you'd like to wait till I get back, no worries.

message 4453: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments We can start tomorrow. What kind of schedule do you want to keep? Certain amount of chapters a day then we discuss? How do you want to play it?

message 4454: by Leea (new)

Leea Just read it and chat as we go along :) It's just fun to chat about the characters with someone.

message 4455: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Sounds like a plan. Look forward to it. I miss my Denver men.

message 4456: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah, I hear it's a good one. Then we have to wait for Ally's book.

message 4457: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Are we going to discuss it here?

I know I can't wait for Ally's book?

message 4458: by Leea (new)

Leea Yeah or on one of our reviews. Whatever works :)

message 4459: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Let's do it on one of our reviews so we don't have to worry about spoilers. I am horrible at remembering.

message 4460: by Leea (new)

Leea Okay!! Can't wait, I need a fluffy romance after reading Chess and Terrible.

message 4461: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I could use a light quick read too.

One Breath Away looks like an interesting book. I'll have to look out for it.

Finished If I Were You (Inside Out Trilogy, #1) by Lisa Renee Jones and I liked that it was part mystery, part erotica, but I wish the mystery element was stronger than it was because the relationship was ridiculous a lot of the time.

message 4463: by Pat (new)

Pat Started Pitch Black Pitch Black by Susan Crandall . Liking this author....

message 4464: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Have fun Leea! We're totally going to miss each other. Thursday I leave for North Carolina.

message 4465: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Wendy are you driving or flying?

message 4466: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) driving! I'm riding with my best friend to go see her brother. I'm excited. I haven't been on a real vacation since long before my daughter was born.

message 4467: by Regina (last edited Aug 27, 2012 08:00AM) (new)

Regina (reginar) That sounds like a lot of fun! Will you listen to audio books together?:D

ETA: Your post has me thinking, isn't it amazing how different are lives are now that we have a child? Did Lexie start school yet?

message 4468: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Leea, #20 in Virgin River is now up on Netgalley My Kind of Christmas (Virgin River, #20) by Robyn Carr I am hoping this helps with my slump.

This is a serious slump. I think I may stop all my UF books and just read some really different stuff.

LOL, No, probably not. She doesn't read like I do. I'll probably burn a whole helluva lot of CD's and we'll rock out. Chat. (If i had my way we totally would audio it. I'm trying to get her to read Kate Daniels, lmao.)

Nope, she hasn't started yet. She starts tuesday the 4th, after Labor day. She's living it up for her last week of vacation. She spent the night at my moms house, then I won't even see her before she goes to my husbands mothers house today. They're going to the zoo tomorrow. She'll come home wednesday and I leave thursday morning.

message 4470: by Leea (new)

Leea Wendy, we'll be kind of doing the same thing. Having fun with our girlfriends. Have a great time!! I'm so excited for you. My friend is a huge reader, so i'll also be pressuring her to read more lighter books. She's a smarty pants, blond bombshell and a crap load of fun :) She reads books like, (got this off her currently reading shelf) The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are and The Woman Who Changed Her Brain: Stories of Transformation from the Frontier of Brain Science. LMAO!!

We will be looking at a ton of school, houses and trying to navigate around a city i've only visited. haha! They move in 2 weeks, so the pressure is on.

Life after having kids is so different, so many benifits but I miss my independance. I'm getting some of that back going to be working a lot more in the next few months. Doing more bridal flowers while the kids are at school.

Finished Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts, #5) by Stacia Kane and it was amazing! Looks like there will be one more book, no clue when it will be out but i'm so curious to see how this series ends.

Going to start Rock Chick Regret for my road trip ;)

Oooh, Thanks Regina! Although, I normally get shot down with Harlequin books. I've been slacking on my Virgin River books. You haven't been there to keep encouraging me and keeping me on track. I cannot believe it's the 20th book - that's crazy!

I hope it gets you our of your reading slump. Those are the worst!

My friend is a reader, just not reading as much as I do. She loves Dean Koontz and Jonathan Kellerman. I got her hooked on Stephanie Plum. And she loves Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. I KNOW she'd love Kate Daniels but she's dragging her heels because the last books I convinced her to read was the Chaos Walking Tril and the aliens and Manchee were just too much for her to handle. Oh, and Hunger Games (though I told her she wouldn't like them) and she hated them.

message 4474: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) My daughter just read Knife of Never Letting go and did not like it at all. It was too upsetting for her and the descriptions of the violence really bothered her. I was suprirsed and felt bad that I recommended it to her.

Bring an audio Kate Daniels -- I bet your library has it!

Leea, I forgot where you left off ....? Ah I see you stopped with 16, so you only need to read 17, 18 and 19!! 17 and 18 were weaker, but 19 was good.

message 4476: by Regina (new)

She's not a fan of audio. But I will definitely spend a lot of time talking about how wonderful it is and how much she's missing out on it!

Yeah, she had a hard time with that too. She said that she just didnt' like the main character. Plus she has a dog that she treats like her baby (this is no exageration. It is her baby like Lex is mine.) so things like (view spoiler)... she can't get past stuff like that.

D.G. Regina wrote: "Thanks DG. I appreciate it. That is a huge time shift! I forgot how long you will be in the Philipines?"

I'll be here until Thursday. Thankfully I'm staying in style...but I'm just affraid I won't have time to do anything! I wanted to do some sightseeing but I don't know if it'll be possible - basically, I'm awake when nothing's going on.

message 4480: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So they sent you there for work, but you have to be available during US office hours? That is pretty frustrating!

I requested it, we'll see if I get it :) Yeah, I need to just read them. I just keep finding more and more book that I want to read and push others back.

Did you finally find something to read, Regina.

I'm just back from the Dentist, got 2 fillings, first dental work i've had done, never have had a cavity just my wisdom teeth out when I was 20. I survived and so far my mouth is still numb.

message 4482: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Ugh, I hate dental work! I am so sorry you went through that, but I guess you had a good run. ;)

Not yet Leea, but I am working late and saw a friend on the train into work this morning -- so I haven't read much today. :)

message 4483: by Tara (new)

Tara (coopergirl) I just finished reading Black Moon (Moon Trilogy, #1) by C.L. Bevill

Starting to read Cleopatra's Daughter by Michelle Moran

Honestly is wasn't bad at all. My dentist rocks, gave me Advil before, was putting aquaphor on my lips and talked me through the whole procedure. My gums kind of hurt and I have a headache from the Novocain. Didn't eat much dinner because my mouth and face were numb.

Bags are packed... I hope I don't forget something.

D.G. Regina wrote: "So they sent you there for work, but you have to be available during US office hours? That is pretty frustrating!"

I came for some meetings at the customer service call center and they work US hours.

The sad thing is that I don't know that I'll do much sightseeing. The traffic here is notoriously bad and it takes an hour to go everywhere in a taxi - and I don't feel like trying public transport!

Oh well, at least I'm staying in the best hotel in the city so it's not too bad. :)

message 4486: by Terri (new)

Terri Herman-Poncé (terriponce) | 2 comments I picked up MJ Rose's "The Memorist" and started reading it the other day. I'm about 1/4 of the way through and loving the suspense and paranormal/past life angle. Not sure when I'll finish, though. I've got a lot of other work ahead of me!

message 4487: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Past Perfect by Leila Sales and it was cute. I haven't been reading much lately. I was busy w my baby's 1st bday party (which was a success) and my 4 yr old started elementary school today! He's in a Transitional Kinder class b/c his bday is in the fall. He was happy and I'm glad it didn't break his heart like it broke mine. LOL Also, I finished season 1 of Downton Abbey and now, I'm on episode 3 of season 2. I am really liking it!!

Not sure what to read next...off to search.

message 4488: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Such two big things today!!! Congrats Kay.

DJ, I love staying in hotels so I would be in heaven if I were in your place. :D

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Finished Eve and Adam by Katherine Applegate and it was such a fun book.

I do like that cover too (the right one!)

message 4492: by D.G. (last edited Aug 28, 2012 12:27PM) (new)

D.G. Yikes! That's such a cover switch!

I like staying in hotels too - I like somebody picking up after me, LOL! Although after I read Stacia's review of Heads in Beds: A Reckless Memoir of Hotels, Hustles, and So-Called Hospitality, I've been smelling the glasses to see if they smell like Pledge, LOL! (No, they don't but then I use them. Here they give you bottled water to drink and haven't been pouring it but just drinking it from the bottle.)

Did you see where my friend said that they were using bathroom cleaner on the glasses at the hotel she worked at?

So I guess if it's not Pledge, it's bathroom cleaner...

message 4495: by D.G. (new)

We're in the car driving right now. Havi g a blast. I read the first 2 chapters last night. I brought my laptop so I can type more later.

message 4497: by Leea (new)

Leea Kay, what an amazing day. How exciting. We always take things harder than the kids.

Great I'm staying in a hotel tonight. Eww!!!

message 4498: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) No wonder water tastes so bad when I drink it out of those glasses! Yuck.

message 4500: by Tellulah (new)

Tellulah Darling (tellulahdarling) Finished How to Kill a Rock Star by Tiffanie DeBartolo Stacia, I think that was your recommend? You can check out my review, but man, did I run the gamut of emotions with that one! Between anxiety and anger, it was tough to keep going, but I really liked it in the end. Maybe because of the anger and anxiety. :)
