I'm sure I will eventually, because I did love Butch. He was my favorite part of the whole book. LOL

I would really like to find a good Paranormal series to sink my teeth into--one that grabbed me from the get-go like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter books did.

message 7902: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) The first one is one of the 2 weakest in the whole series. I loooove BDB, lol. It's my cheesy weakness.

Regina and Lori, I tried so hard to not read them, but it's like a magnet for my eyes. Plus, her snippets are so small that once I see the first two lines I've pretty much got the whole thing.

Not like Diana Gabaldon, her's are long. So they're easy to not read.

message 7903: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Angie - I started the Experiment in Terror series - not sure if it's what you're looking for, since I'm not familiar with the Dark Hunter books. But I'm enjoying it.

I'm not sure if it's what I'm looking for, either, but they look really good!

message 7905: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and it was great! I loved how the setting (a circus) was so different from others I've read in this genre. I'm off to search for another contemporary romance...

Hey Marcella! Not scare in a bad way lol just anxious! Will definitely still read, I have to! What a bummer if it isn't up to par though.

message 7907: by Courtney (new)

Courtney | 337 comments Kay - Glad you liked that one as I did! I'm reading Heaven, Texas (Chicago Stars, #2) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips by the same author and I'm not feeling it as much.

message 7908: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments Courtney, I read that book awhile ago. I think I liked book 1 & 3 better. I know those books are a bit dated so it may be a turn off for some people. I enjoyed it when I read it and hopefully I will eventually finish that series one day.

message 7909: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Laura - if you can hang in there with the Special Forces, keep going. There are definitely rough spots and uneven parts in the writing. Sometimes the books feel almost too real - the really mundane in with the important. All I can say is that the full story blew me away. I've read it through twice now.

But it's definitely not for everyone. I'm frankly surprised that I read it, liked it, and was willing to read it again - LOL!

message 7910: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Lori you have good taste! Firth does a really good job on the narration, it is gorgeously done. The story, like the title suggests is about a man lamenting over the loss of a love affair. It is very short (160 pages or 5 hours of audio) but so beautiful. He is remembering what it was like to be with her -- he vacillates between loving her and long for her and hating her.

I am sad that some of those movies I have seen on cable are just not available, that sounds like one I would like to watch.

message 7911: by Lori (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Isn't that the movie that featured Ralph Fiennes and Julianne Moore? I think Oscar nominations were involved, too, but it's been awhile.

I just remember it being a very sad, moving story. I was conflicted, because the two were having an affair; does it make it right because they're in love? Quite a story! I'd love to hear Colin Firth's dulcet tones narrating!

message 7912: by Leea (new)

Leea Started Dark of Night (Troubleshooters, #14) by Suzanne Brockmann and holy crap that's the best opening to any of the books so far. I'm sorry Wendy... I know you'll be starting this later so don't read this spoiler. (view spoiler)

Sam and Alyssa's baby - be still my heart!!

I love this series and we're almost done... what do we do?

message 7913: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Lori -- the infidelity for some reason doesn't bother me in this context. Maybe b/c it is more an exploration of what he lost and dealing with his jealousy. The husband is also painted very negatively, but of course we only see him through the eyes of the spurned lover.

Leea -- woohoo!! I have never found anything that fills the whole of Troubleshooters, so I don't know what I would recommend. No other romantic suspense series is like TS in my opinion. Her books are so complex, layered and the characters written so well.

All we can do is hope that SB keeps writing and writes faster!

message 7914: by Leea (new)

Leea Ahhh! They're the best!! We need to slow down Wendy... it's so hard. I'm just loving this book. all my favorites are back and under one roof = awesome!

message 7915: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) EEEK! At the rate I'm going I probably won't be able to start until tomorrow, Leea. (I can't read Clockwork Princess at work because it keeps making me CRY!) But I'm eagerly anticipating getting back into it.

message 7916: by Leea (new)

Leea My mil is here. So I'm still at 15%... No worries and I'm trying to go slow. Ha!

message 7917: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments I haven't been able to get to Clockwork Princess yet. I am feel like I am not in the know. Ha ha!

message 7918: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Oh man, it is soooooo good. But soooooo sad!

message 7919: by Marcella (new)

Marcella (marcella6) | 886 comments Ahh man do I even want to know why it is sad. If anything happened to by boys I will be so pissed. I can't take another disappointment. It is too soon after Requiem.

message 7920: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am LOVING Cara McKenna's new book After Hours by Cara McKenna

I already love the 'hero' and the setting. I am only about 15% in but I want IT to happen already, haha.

message 7921: by Leea (new)

Leea Oh man, that's great. I can't wait to read it.

It's opening day for baseball. I'm basically spending my day at the field, bringing my reader but that may just be a pipe dream. Lol!!

Your shelf tags made me howl. Awesome!

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Haven't had any real time to read the past few days, so I pretty much fit in a few short stories at bedtime.

Chastity Belt by Shoshanna Evers was laughable in a bad way
A Modern Wicked Fairy Tale Alice (Modern Wicked Fairy Tales) by Selena Kitt was laughable too but I didn't mind it because I like reading Kitt's sex scenes and the Alice in Wonderland world was kind of bizarrely cool for a pwp.
Breathless (Elemental, #2.5) by Brigid Kemmerer - not erotic but it was a big win for me. LOVED the lead-in for Nick's story. This series continues to be awesome.

message 7926: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I freaking loved After Hours by Cara McKenna -- more than Willing Victim

After Hours is everything I wanted from Willing Victim -- more of the characters, more development, more of the relationship and -- more sex. Not that Willing Victim was lacking, it was just a novella. Stacia, I think you will really like it. I may read this again, god it was so good.

M.A. Comley (melcom) | 7 comments Her Fake Romance by Donna Fasano by Donna Fasano which was recommended to me because it is up for a best romance award on Big Al's blog.

message 7928: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am on that crazy high of feeling that nothing will match up to a book after finishing After Hours by Cara McKenna

I just went crazy and bought 3 of her books and pre-ordered her book coming out in October -- I can't wait for her other book coming out in April.

Bought:

Trespass by Meg Maguire Headstrong by Meg Maguire Ready and Willing by Cara McKenna

Pre-Ordered:
Thank You for Riding (Strangers on a Train) by Meg Maguire and Unbound

message 7929: by Leea (new)

Leea Who knew she had those books out. I'm so far behind! I think I've been in a troubleshooter haze for the last few months. Ha! I'm really enjoying Dar of night. Wow!

message 7930: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I am so glad you are enjoying it!!! I didn't like it as much as was disappointed about the storyline that Wendy may dislike too.

message 7931: by Angie Elle (new)

Angie Elle (angieelle) | 602 comments I'm reading Once Tempted (Silver Creek, #1) by Laura Moore .

Well I went looking. :)

message 7933: by Dayana (new)

Dayana I just finish The Courtesan's Lover by Gabrielle Kimm - I have really mixed feelings about the book. I liked how the author allows the reader to see the point of view of each character even the bad ones. I didn't like the relationships between the characters because they were too complicated which made the book for me very heavy. For me the romance between the heroine and the hero developed too fast and I was not able to understand how the heroine was thinking that she can wipe out her past when so many people knew her secret. Overall it was a good read but the book was too heavy for my taste.

Now I am starting The Ragged Heiress by Dilly Court

message 7934: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) So I just finished a novella by Cara McKenna and it was surprisingly good. Ready and Willing by Cara McKenna

message 7935: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I need to sleep tonight, I haven't slept for nights really -- either reading, working, book club or I will blame the kids. So I think I am not going to read a new book tonight. I think I will re-read one of these novellas:

Willing Victim by Cara McKenna Damaged Goods by Lauren Gallagher Hearts in Darkness by Laura Kaye

message 7936: by Kay (new)

Kay (calikay) | 1216 comments I finished One Good Earl Deserves a Lover (The Rules of Scoundrels, #2) by Sarah MacLean and I liked it.

Not sure what to read next...probably something light b/c I want to be free when Lover at Last comes out on Tues!

message 7937: by Leea (new)

Leea I'm so excited for lover at last!

message 7938: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) I am so excited for that book!!!!

message 7939: by Leea (new)

Leea Have fun rereading those books, Regina.

I'm 73% into Dark of Night and it's so good... I have an issue with the storyline. (view spoiler)

message 7940: by Ladyhawk (new)

Ladyhawk | 381 comments Wendy F wrote: I can't read Clockwork Princess at work because it keeps making me CRY!..."

Oh no! I picked it up last week. I'm still inching my way through this series.

message 7941: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Interesting perspective on Tracy. :) I think I like it, I never thought about it from that perspective.

The Nash storyline was irritating to me. But in the end, I liked how everything was resolved.

message 7942: by Leea (new)

Leea Right now i'm 74% and (view spoiler)

message 7943: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I wanted him to be with (view spoiler)

Ah I agree about that Nash issue.

So I re-read Willing Victim and it is even better a 3rd time. :)

I am reading another short story (my 3rd in a few days) while I wait for Lover at Last: I'm Starved for You (Positron, #1) by Margaret Atwood and it is really good.

god, The End of the Affair by Graham Greene is brilliant, painful. I need to see the movie.

message 7944: by Lori (last edited Mar 25, 2013 03:27PM) (new)

Lori (lorimcd) Finished The Experiment in Terror series, and... wow! Some of it is SUPER SCARY! It's amazingly addictive!!! So sad that I've finally caught up in the series. While there's supposed to be another book coming out this summer, none of the online book sellers are showing it. Ugh.

But Lover At Last tomorrow!!! And I'm into the Troubleshooters book #4 Out of Control as well as in the Wilde series with book 1 Wilde Thing. And I still haven't read Highlander Most Wanted yet!!!

I'm going away in a couple of weeks for a solo vacation to a nice B&B that I visit frequently. The owners know and love me, so I'm hoping to have 4 solid days of solitude, nature, and time to just READ my way through some of these series and catch up!!!

Regina, tell me what you think about the movie "The End of the Affair". Wishing that Firth was in it, but he wasn't... it was the Ralph Fiennes hey-day.

message 7945: by Leea (new)

Leea Ahhh, Lori! You've been reading some good books. What do you think of the Troubleshooters series?

I think The Experiment in Terror series is the next one Wendy and I are going to tackle... Can't wait!

message 7946: by Leea (new)

Leea I finished Dark of Night (Troubleshooters, #14) by Suzanne Brockmann and it wasn't my favorite book, but there were some great moments (Can't say because I don't want to spoil them but there in my review) and I cannot wait to read Izzy's book.

Now i'm going to try and squeeze in Here Be Sexist Vampires (Deep In Your Veins, #1) by Suzanne Wright . I hope it's a fast sexy read - I need that right now. Hubby is gone for a few days working so I hope to read a lot tonight. I cannot wait for Lover at Last tomorrow!
